Rudy Giuliani Wants ‘Defender of Justice’ Jeff Sessions to Investigate Feds Behind Cohen Wiretapping

President Donald Trump‘s lawyer and personal friend Rudy Giuliani is calling for “defender of justice” Attorney General Jeff Sessions to investigate those involved with the Michael Cohen investigation.
Responding to an ABC report that federal authorities wiretapped Trump lawyer Cohen’s phone and recorded at least one phone call with the White House, Giuliani said during an exclusive interview with The Hill, that it was time for the Attorney General to get involved.
“I am waiting for the Attorney General to step in, in his role as defender of justice, and put these people under investigation,” Giuliani said, according to The Hill‘s account.
Giuliani also said he had not talked to Trump about the wiretapping, but said he plans to tell him that the DOJ stamping on Constitutional rights.
“He is going to say to me, ‘Isn’t there an attorney-client privilege?’ And I am going to tell him, ‘No, the Department of Justice seems to want to trample all over the Constitution of the United States,'” Giuliani insisted.
He also characterized the whole investigation as a “gross” miscarriage of justice and snarked that Trump’s legal team had not even been informed.
“And they don’t even notify us?” Giuliani told The Hill. “I mean, he’s only the president of the United States.”
Cohen is currently under investigation for a $130,000 payment he made to Stormy Daniels. According to NBC, it was not clear how long the wiretap was in place but it was in place at least a few weeks before the raid on Cohen’s New York City office.
During the interview, Giuliani did not offer specifics on how he felt the Cohen investigation, in general, violated Constitutional rights but insisted that he had “numerous acts” to prove his case that Sessions should intervene.
