What the…? Trump Claims Democrats Want to ‘Rip Down All the Buildings in Manhattan’ to Build ‘Water-Free Bathrooms’
Former President Donald Trump is no stranger to bizarre ad-libs during his campaign speeches, but comments he made Tuesday claiming Democrats wanted to tear down all the buildings in Manhattan were unique, even for this weirdest of all timelines in which we find ourselves. Even more unusual was what the ex-president claimed would be built to replace those buildings.
Speaking in Waukanee, Wisconsin, Trump complained about the Democrats “spend[ing] all their time and energy on the Green New Scam,” meaning the Green New Deal, a progressive environmental, energy, and economic proposal.
“They don’t even talk about that anymore,” he continued. “When was the last time you heard about the Green New Scam? They don’t talk about it. You know why? ‘Cause it doesn’t work. They wanted 93 trillion dollars. The ultimate plan was 93 trillion dollars.”
The ex-president then added his claims about what these “ultimate” plans supposedly were:
They wanted to rip down all the buildings in Manhattan, those gorgeous buildings with those big, beautiful windows, and they wanted to rebuild them without windows. Because without windows is more energy efficient. Tell somebody you’re going to take 40,000 feet of office space, but you have no windows. This is what they want. These people are crazy. They’re crazy.
Take a look, take a look at some of them, actually — you gotta see the bathrooms that they project for, uh, people. I can’t talk to you about it because it’s so gross. But basically, water-free bathrooms, water-free, no water. This is not good. But these people are crazy.
This is far from the first time Trump has shared his deeply felt concerns about plumbing. In 2019, he ranted about toilets that had to be flushed “10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once” while he was holding a presidential roundtable with small business leaders about regulatory issues.
Hopefully, Hannibal Lecter won’t be waiting in these windowless, waterless bathrooms.
