‘WTF is This?’ Trump’s Energetic Flag Waving at Indycar Race Goes Viral

President Donald Trump went viral on Sunday for what can best be described as his energetic waving of the green flag at the IndyCar Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C.

If you missed it, the Fox broadcast caught Trump smirking and waving the flag back and forth like an enthusiastic orchestra maestro, wile First Lady Melania Trump smiled widely right next to him. You watch it in the clip below:

And like with anything Trump-related, the moment was loved by MAGA fans and loathed by anti-Trumpers, while a few others used it as a chance to fire off some jokes.

We’ll start with the reactions from the pro-Trump crowd, with several X users saying Trump looked like he was having the time of his life at the race.

“Incredible,” one user marveled. “How does he do it?”

Some others used it simply as a template to fire off some jokes:

Trump haters didn’t enjoy it as much, though. Many mocked the president for the clip, with many saying he looked “uncoordinated” and like he didn’t know how to wave a flag.

 

And Trump’s longtime foe Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) used it as an opportunity to bash the president, saying he was using “taxpayer money” on his “self-aggrandizing distractions.”

Trump has been excited about the IndyCar race for months, and he and the First Lady took an honorary lap around the track before the race on Sunday.

“They’re great athletes,” Trump said at an event in July about the Indy drivers. “Nothingβ€”nobody can doβ€”they’re born with something very special. They’re born with an ability to press that pedal all the way down to the ground. Most people can’t do that. Very few people can. But their beautiful cars are going to make freedom roar. This will be a freedom that’s roaring like never before.”

Kyle Kirkwood won the race, by the way.
