WATCH: 49ers Score First TD Of Super Bowl LVIII On Trick Play To Christian McCaffrey

The San Francisco 49ers scored the first touchdown of Super Bowl LVIII on a trick pass play to running back Christian McCaffrey.

With four-and-a-half minutes left in the second quarter, quarterback Brock Purdy threw it backwards to receiver Jauan Jennings. Then, Jennings threw it from one sideline to the other to McCaffrey. Thanks to a key block just a split-second before McCaffrey caught the back, the running back ran straight to the end zone without being touched.

The play gave the 49ers a 10-0 lead over the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs. On the Chiefs’ ensuing drive, the team managed to kick a field goal to go into the half down 10-3.
