Colbert Fires Back At Trump For Attacks Against ‘That Guy on CBS’: ‘James Corden is Very Talented!’
Stephen Colbert had quite the reaction to President Trump after he blasted him and other late-night talk show hosts at a recent rally.
Trump took a moment during the South Carolina rally Monday to blast “lost soul” Jimmy Fallon, “no talent” Jimmy Kimmel, as well as the “lowlife” Late Show host.
Well, Colbert took exception to Trump’s assertion that the “guy on CBS” has “no talent.”
“Hey, Mr. President. I will not stand here and let you talk that way about James Corden!” Colbert exclaimed. He is very talented! He sings! He dances! Have you seen his Carpool Karaoke with Paul McCartney?'”
It didn’t take Colbert long to realize that Trump was referring to himself.
“But I’ll say this: I think he called me ‘The guy on CBS’ because he’s afraid to say my name,” Colbert continued. “Yeah. This rally was in South Carolina… I am South Carolina to the core!… I am South Carolina’s second favorite celebrity right after the Confederate flag.”
The Late Show host then pointed out Trump’s shoutout to Johnny Carson and agreed that the legendary talk show host was talented and gave his audience a “taste” of his talent by showing an old clip from his show.
“Don’t worry about Jennifer Flowers. She got a new job today. She got fired, you know,” Carlson told his audience in 1992. “She was a receptionist in an unemployment agency. She got canned, but she got a new job today as a Donald Trump backup mistress.”
“He really was ahead of his time,” Colbert reacted.
