Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fl., slammed President Donald Trump’s phone call to the grieving widow of Sgt. David Johnson — who died earlier this month while on duty in Niger — claiming the president said Johnson “knew what he signed up for.”
Trump responded to this accusation by accusing the congresswoman of lying over Twitter Wednesday morning:
Democrat Congresswoman totally fabricated what I said to the wife of a soldier who died in action (and I have proof). Sad!

Wilson described the president’s call as “extremely insensitive” and even said Trump himself is “coldhearted.”
She made these remarks while appearing on CNN this morning, where she also said:
“I don’t know what type of proof he could be talking about, I’m not the only person that was in the car — I have proof, too. This man is a sick man, he’s cold hearted and he feels no sympathy or pity for anyone. This is a grieving widow who is six months pregnant, this is a young woman — she’s only 24 years old… She has two other kids that are two years old and six years old.”
Wilson also claimed that, when the call between the widow and Trump concluded, Myeshia Johnson said, “He didn’t even know his name.”
The representative described this as “the worst part” — adding that she was “livid” and demanded to speak to the president but was not allowed to.
As for what Trump said exactly, Wilson asserts that she heard him say, “I’m sure [Johnson] knew what he was signing up for.”
