Maddow on Hannity’s Relationship With Cohen: ‘I Still Am Struggling Not to Laugh’
Rachel Maddow was thoroughly amused by the turn of events on Monday while she cycled through the news surrounding the connection between Michael Cohen and Sean Hannity.
Maddow opened her show by pouring through the weirdness of the court hearing where President Trump‘s embattled personal lawyer admitted that Hannity was the mysterious client he was trying not to reveal. Maddow was giggling over the plethora of news surrounding Cohen, saying “don’t even ask me to tell you what it means…I have no idea.”
“It’s all nuts. It’s nuts,” Maddow declared. “But I will tell you, it is an odd little bit of comfort that in court, even in a case this crazy, it at least all gets sorted out in a sort of orderly fashion. ”
Maddow went on to examine the transcript from Cohen’s court appearance, particularly the part where his lawyers were pressed over their efforts to refrain from disclosing Hannity’s name. She also noted how everyone in the room was floored when the Fox host’s name came out, and some people were described as struggling not to laugh.
“I still am struggling not to laugh,” Maddow said. “This has been a very weird day in the news. One of the anchors at the major pro-Trump news network has had an undisclosed relationship with the president’s lawyer all this time, while Fox has not told that to its audience and while Mr. Hannity and Mr. Cohen have apparently spent considerable effort trying to keep that relationship secret. What? That’s just lurid.”
