Melania Trump Makes First On-Camera Appearance in Front of Press in 26 Days

On Wednesday, First Lady Melania Trump made her first on-camera appearance in front of the press in nearly a month.

Over the weekend, it was announced Mrs. Trump would not be joining her husband for upcoming summits in both Canada and Singapore, sparking renewed social media speculation about her whereabouts and well-being after she was hospitalized for surgery last month.

Then on Monday, Mrs. Trump emerged after 24 days out of the public eye to attend an event with Gold Star families. However, no press or cameras were allowed at the event allowing speculation to still simmer about the First Lady.

President Donald Trump, himself, addressed the rumors on Wednesday, adding his own spin on what folks are saying about his wife and not surprisingly making her the victim of a “fake news” media smear.

He then addressed them again sitting next to his wife, saying, “she went through a little rough patch but she’s doing great.”

Mrs. Trump’s appearance at Federal Emergency Management Agency Headquarters in Washington, DC accompanying her husband is her first appearance in front of the media in 26 days.

It also comes as the same day as the White House is scheduled to host a Ramadan event at the White House. According to the press schedule, that event will include a press spray but will, unlike past iftar dinners hosted by other presidents, will be hosted by President Trump alone and not the president and first lady.
