At the end of her interview on The Daily Show, Omarosa Manigault Newman offered some advice on how to combat President Donald Trump.
Omarosa admitted to Trevor Noah that she “had a blindspot” for the president when she was an aspiring businesswoman when she appeared on The Apprentice and that he “inspired” her but ended up being a “disappointment.”
“And because I did have this blindspot and I was blindly loyal and I look like the biggest dummy following this person because I didn’t have that same perspective,” Omarosa said. “And sometimes, you have to step back in order to have a clear view and I recognize I was going down the wrong path with Trump.”
When asked by Noah what was the “one insight” she could share about the president, who she has known for fifteen years, for those who go up against him in the public arena, Omarosa had this response:
“There’s one way to shut Donald Trump down and that is don’t give him the oxygen,” Omarosa told Noah. “And the oxygen comes from the clicks, the ‘likes,’ the shock, discussions.”
She then referred to Trump’s recent spat with NBA All-Star LeBron James and insisted that the president “enjoyed” by “every single person who was shocked” by the tweets mocking his intelligence, adding that he “loved” and “thrived off of it.”
“If you ignore him, then you starve him of the thing he loves the most and that is controversy and attention,” Omarosa concluded.
