Trump Darkly Floats Liz Cheney Getting Shot At in Sit Down With Tucker Carlson: Guns ‘Trained on Her Face!’

Former President Donald Trump slammed former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney, high-profile GOP surrogate for Vice President Kamala Harris, as a “radical war hawk” and imagined how she would fare in war herself, with “guns pointed at her.”

The provocative comments were made late Thursday in Arizona during a campaign event with Tucker Carlson. Continuing his presidential campaign, Trump took a swipe at Cheney for her vocal criticism of him since the January 6th Capitol attack. Cheney, a longstanding GOP figure from Wyoming, has turned into one of his fiercest critics.

Trump didn’t hold back, branding Cheney as “a deranged person” and claiming she has an appetite for sending troops to conflicts. “If it were up to her,” he said, “we’d be in 50 different countries.”

Referring to Cheney as “a very dumb individual,” he upped the ante:

She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. Okay. Let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face.

The former president expanded on his criticism, claiming politicians like Cheney support conflicts from the safety of Washington, D.C., without personal risk.

“You know they’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building saying, oh gee, well, let’s send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy,” Trump said.

Amid a swift backlash from Harris’s campaign and social media, Trump’s team clarified his comments to the Associated Press, saying he was speaking about Cheney’s willingness to send “America’s sons and daughters to fight in wars despite never being in a war herself.”

Editor’s Note: A previous version of this story characterized Trump’s comments of “nine barrels shooting at her” and “trained at her face” as a firing squad. We have edited the piece accordingly because he never used the term firing squad.
