‘Be Careful What You Wish For!’ GOP Strategist Issues Warning to Republicans Who Want to Run Against Socialists

Republican politicians better not get too cocky about wanting to face socialist candidates, according to GOP strategist Erin Maguire.

She told Fox News on Tuesday morning that the recent Democratic primary victories by socialist candidates are a warning sign they are actually connecting with voters.

“I know we all as Republicans like to say, ‘Yeah, I want to run against a socialist. I’ll run against a communist.’ Be careful what you wish for, because they’re doing a good job organizing and getting people motivated right now in these Democrat primaries,” Maguire said.

A moment earlier on The Faulkner Focus, Maguire explained ex-Vice President Kamala Harris is pushing hard to get the Dem nomination in 2028. But she said there is one problem for Harris: she’s a “terrible candidate” who has “been on every side of every issue.”

Her brutal critique comes a few days after Harris shared her “controversial” plan to beat the “cheating” Republicans in 2026 and 2028, which included Harris saying Dems need to “revisit” ditching the Electoral College and packing the Supreme Court.

As for the socialists, a handful of them won Democratic primaries in June.

Two of those candidates in New York — Darializa Avila Chevalier (D) and Claire Valdez (D) — are card-carrying members of the Democratic Socialists of America, just like NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D). The mayor backed both Chevalier and Valdez in their primaries. 

Beyond its socialist economic agenda, the DSA website said it is against Trump’s “racist immigration policies” and America being allied with Israel, which it said has committed a “genocide” in Gaza.

Soon after the primaries, Trump sardonically congratulated Mamdani on getting “solid Communists” elected. His tone shifted a few days later, when he said the communists have started to make “their move” in the USA.

“The game is on,” Trump said.

Trump has ripped the socialists and socialism plenty of other times since then, including when he said communism is a “cancer” which must be dealt with ASAP during his Fourth of July address.

He issued a similar warning during a recent speech in Georgia. Trump said it is really simple to understand: “With communism, everything turns to sh*t!”
