Tucker Carlson Hits Joy Reid For ‘White Nationalist’ Jab: Her Entire Career ‘Built On Race-Baiting’
Tucker Carlson ripped MSNBC’s Joy Reid on Monday night over her recent segment in which she said that the Fox host perpetuates a “blatantly white nationalist” viewpoint of immigration.
Carlson began by noting that Reid had a genealogist on her show to talk about how Carlson’s ancestors came to America from Switzerland. Carlson disregarded this as “irrelevant” to modern immigration policy, and he proceeded to slam Reid for “projecting” with her condemnation of his commentary on race.
“Reid’s entire public career has been built on the race-baiting,” Carlson said. “Reid can’t explain why this country so badly needs to import millions of additional poor people. Nobody on the left can explain that because there’s no real answer, so they attempt to short-circuit the conversation with slurs.”
Carlson went on to defend the dialogue about immigration on his show, stating that the focus must remain on how to benefit the American middle-class. He eventually moved to say that the political left no longer believes in debating immigration in favor of calling dissenters racist.
“The term has been devalued by reckless overuse, and that’s a shame because it still applies,” Carlson said. “There’s still plenty of racism in America, maybe more now possibly than in generations…The left supports all of this. It is central to their worldview. It is key to their political strategy, but is totally wrong and we plan to keep saying that.”
Last week, regular Fox guest Mark Steyn appeared on Carlson’s show, and faced considerable blowback for bashing immigrants in a manner that seemed overtly xenophobic and racially insensitive. That being said, guess who joined Carlson after his monologue was over?
