‘We Can ALWAYS Out-Montage You!’ Seth Meyers Rolls Out His Own Blistering Trump Gaffe Montage

One of the highlights/lowlights from Tuesday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing with former Special Counsel Robert Hur was the pair of montages starring former President Donald Trump that were played by House Democrats. But those montages have a critic, and that critic is late-night television host Seth Meyers.

During his segment “A Closer Look” on Wednesday night, Meyers covered the hearing about the classified documents case of President Joe Biden. But another point of comparison between Biden and Trump are their respective states of mind — Republicans claim Biden is in cognitive decline, Democrats claim Trump is equally mentally addled. To make their own argument, Reps. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and Eric Swalwell (D-CA) each played their own montages of Trump slurring his words, saying nonsense, and mixing up names.

Meyers clearly saw this move on the House floor as amateur hour:

Now to contrast how well their brains function, Democrats at yesterday’s hearing aired not one but two montages of Trump glitching at his rallies. And while they were effective, I got to say I was a little irked. That’s our thing, guys. We’ve been doing that for nine years. Our researchers have spent so much time sifting through videotape of Trump’s brain exploding they’re scarred for life. You cannot outdo us, Congress, when it comes to a Trump montage, so don’t try because we can always out-montage you. In fact, I’m going to prove it right now. Hopefully this won’t be too long. You guys watch and I’ll keep myself occupied. Roll it, Alex.

Meyers, a professional introducer of the Trump montage, spent the next few moments making himself a drink, playing cards, taking a power nap, and ping-pong paddling — with and without a luxurious eye cover — until the montage was over. He also had time to create a fresh new courtroom sketch of the former president. He didn’t have to, but he did. Because he could.
