TalkTV Host Julia Hartley-Brewer Rips Owen Jones Over Hamas Hospital Skepticism Before Agreeing IDF Footage Cannot Be Verified
TalkTV host Julia Hartley-Brewer and political correspondent Sam Armstrong fiercely criticised journalist Guardian commentator Owen Jones for questioning claims regarding Hamas’ use of al-Shifa hospital after Israeli forces published CCTV footage alleging to show hostages being taken through the complex.
Armstrong launched a scathing attack, comparing skepticism over the incident to Holocaust denial.
“We have now reached the Holocaust denial phase about what happened on October 7th. Okay, we’ve got video evidence, we’ve got tunnels going ten metres deep, many metres long. Why on earth does a hospital have a tunnel like that? What medical procedure could I mean?” he questioned.
Hartley-Brewer joined in with a sarcastic retort, mocking the idea that hospitals commonly have such tunnels.
“Oh. I mean? The Royal Free Hospital in London has definitely got one. So you know, Guy’s and St. Thomas’s, they’ve all got tunnels underneath. Of course, they do. It’s normal in a hospital. Don’t be silly, Sam,” she said.
Armstrong continued to accuse those denying the massacre of devaluing Jewish lives. “We have got to the phase where the evidence is so overwhelming of this genocidal massacre that I can only imagine that the sole reason to deny what we have seen with our eyes, with our ears, is that Jews don’t count this.”
Hartley-Brewer then criticised Jones for his response to an Israel Foreign Ministry tweet. The tweet alleged that Hamas terrorists were seen in hospital CCTV footage transporting hostages.
Jones had questioned the narrative, suggesting that the presence of injured hostages did not justify the attack on the hospital.
The host continued: “I just find this absolutely extraordinary. It doesn’t matter what evidence Israel produces there are still people denying that October 7th that some massacres took place. Luckily, Hamas videoed a lot of it and put it out themselves, so we can actually see from their perspective what they actually did. But the willingness of youthful idiots, useless idiots, useless people who frankly are defenders of these terrorists to actually just refuse to accept anything that the Israeli government says…”
Despite her heated criticism, however, Hartley-Brewer conceded that what the footage showed could not be confirmed, in apparent agreement with Jones’ point.
She said: “Now I will say, we cannot verify that this is what is being claimed. Know, you know, the fog of war… There’s a fog of war on both sides.”
Hartley-Brewer continued, refining her point: “I just find this absolutely extraordinary. It doesn’t matter what evidence Israel produces there are still people denying that October 7th that some massacres took place. Luckily, Hamas videoed a lot of it and put it out themselves, so we can actually see from their perspective what they actually did. But the willingness of youthful idiots, useless idiots, useless people who frankly are defenders of these terrorists to actually just refuse to accept anything that the Israeli government says.”
