The Shining: Final Scene

The worst part of this scene is seeing Dick Halloran (Scatman Crothers) on the floor. His death scene is on YouTube (of course) but I deliberately didn’t include it. That may be the worst moment of the film. In the book, he survives helps them escape. I loved Dick Halloran. But cinematically, I can see how he had to go &mdasha; amazingly by today’s horror film standards, The Shining manages to make it through the movie with a body count of zero. (Ghosts excepted, obviously.) I also like how Kubrick aligned racism with the nastiness and evil of the Overlook in the bathroom scene with Jack and Grady. Anyhow, spoiler alert: They make it. Well, not everybody.

>>>FINALLY: All work and no play made Jack a dull boy.
