‘Why Did You Cheat on Your Wife?’ Ken Paxton Hit With Brutal Town Hall Question

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) was confronted with a blunt question about his personal life during a Monday town hall when a caller asked him directly, “Why did you cheat on your wife?”

Paxton, who is running against Texas state Rep. James Talarico (D) for U.S. Senate, has seen his campaign dogged by a series of scandals, despite securing President Donald Trump’s endorsement over longtime Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX). The Texas attorney general has faced scrutiny over allegations of voter fraud and his office’s plea deal with child sex predator Adam Hoffman.

Not to mention, Paxton’s marriage has provided its own source of political turmoil. His wife, Texas state Sen. Angela Paxton (R), filed for divorce last year “on biblical grounds,” with court filings citing adultery. The divorce proceedings, which threatened to air potentially damaging details in open court, were later pulled from the trial docket as the couple worked toward a settlement. More recently, Paxton has faced scrutiny over photos of him traveling in Europe with Christian influencer Tracy Duhon, amid reports that the two have been romantically involved since 2024.

In the Monday town hall, footage from one Instagram user shows a caller remarking, “Nice to meet you,” before asking, “I’m just wondering — why did you cheat on your wife?”

Paxton responded:

Um, I’m not gonna talk about personal issues that relate to my family, just like I don’t think you would wanna discuss your marriage on a call with thousands of people. All I can tell you is that I’m proud of my kids. I’ve got four wonderful kids. I’ve got seven grandchildren — well, six and one on the way. There’s a lot at stake, and so while I care about this country, I’m not gonna talk about things that would affect them, so thank you very much for your question.
