Today on Dr. Oz‘s show, the TV doc will sit down with Republican standard-bearer Donald Trump for a lengthy episode about his diet, health tips, and at least some results from the nominee’s recent physical. It’s truly showmanship at its best: Dr. Mehmet Oz, the heart surgeon who has stirred up controversy for his show’s questionable health advice in the past, and the reality TV star-turned-major party nominee, together on one set.
Senator Claire McCaskill however — a Democrat who formally endorsed Hillary Clinton‘s candidacy way back in June 2013 — isn’t so impressed with the TV duo.
During a visit with MSNBC’s Morning Joe Thursday, the Missouri lawmaker ripped into the charades of transparency perpetuated by both Dr. Oz and Donald Trump. “Talk about two snake oil salesmen,” McCaskill said to show host Mika Brzezinski.
“Isn’t that a pair. Oh my lord,” she said.
“I mean one of them says, ‘Take a pill and you’ll be thin’… from your lips to God’s hear wouldn’t we all love that? Not true. Not medically true. Not scientifically true. And Dr. Oz knows it,” she said, laying into the popular TV show host.
And of course, her criticism for the GOP nominee was just as biting, saying, “…[Donald Trump is] promising things that are totally not true. Lying every time he opens his mouth.”
The Democratic Senator unabashedly concluded, “So I think it’s really a marriage made in heaven.”
