CNBC’s Kudlow Defends Brian Williams: He Wasn’t Trying to Hide Anything
CNBC’s Larry Kudlow today defended colleague Brian Williams as the latter continues getting pilloried in the media for a story about his time in Iraq that turned out to be untrue. Kudlow is one of just a few people outright defending Williams today, after Dan Rather spoke out in support of Williams’ journalistic bona fides.
Steve Malzberg asked Kudlow for his thoughts on this scandal, and in return, the CNBC senior contributor praised Williams as a “first-rate professional newscaster” who just made a mistake in the fog of war.
He praised the “stand-up way” Williams handled himself throughout all this and seriously doubted the NBC Nightly News anchor was trying to “hide anything.” Kudlow concluded that the NBC anchor deserves “more than the benefit of the doubt.”
