Law & Order Likens “Limbaugh, Beck, and O’Reilly” To Violent Cancer

What’s the fastest way to get Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly talking about you on national television? Comparing them to a violent cancer, also on national television, is a pretty safe bet.

Two nights ago, a character in Law & Order likened Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Bill O’Reilly to “a cancer spreading ignorance and hate” against immigrants. Beck and O’Reilly were quick to hit back against the show’s “far-left” agenda:

O’Reilly, for his part, had some choice words for Law & Order EP Dick Wolf, those choice words being that Dick Wolf is a “despicable human being,” a “coward,” and a “liar.” O’Reilly then proceeded to roll some clips in which he made remarks about illegal immigrants that by all accounts were not cancerously spreading hate: for instance, that “most illegal aliens are good people, coming to America to try for better lives.”

Glenn Beck, for his part, launched into an apologia for tea parties, saying that they didn’t kill that census worker who hanged himself for the insurance money and that the SEIU is the real violent hub.

No word yet from Limbaugh, but if the speed and indignation of Beck’s and O’Reilly’s responses are any indication, stay tuned…

There are a lot of people who agree with that depiction. Why shouldn’t there be a fictional character portraying that sentiment on a drama?

  • Jelperman

    Because Falafel O’Bill is a thin-skinned titty-baby, that’s why.

  • http://trickletown.vox.com/ Trickletown

I would add Keith Olbermann to the list in a heartbeat. There are many more on the left, but none have the gravitas of these four heavyweights.

  • timzank

    @same2u….{ Why shouldn’t there be a fictional character portraying that sentiment on a drama?}

The fictional character is not a problem, television shows always do that. It’s the “naming” of real live people that poses a problem. It’s tacky, petty, nasty, amd probably a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I’ve been a huge fan of L&O over the years until the last coup;e of seasons….waaaaay too much left leaning political grandstanding.

  • m

Anything to the left of Pat Buchanan is “far left” for Bill O’Reilly.

Yeah… maybe he’ll get a job in the White House.

Come on, they wouldn’t do that… L&O is an NBC property.

Kinda like how anything to the right of Al Franken or Michael Moore is a “right-wing extremists” to many of the folks around here.

    ____

L&O has been interjecting A LOT of politics… but has done so for a long time. However, I think O’Reilly would have been best served by interviewing Fred Thompson… if anyone is qualified to talk about it, it would be him.

More thin skinned reaction from the pundocracy, al of whom (including Olbermann) can dish it out nightly from the safety of a studio, but cannot take any insult or comment no matter how slight.

Memo to all: the First Amendment applies to EVERYONE, not just overpaid and overblown pundits. It works like this: If a program has content that one does not like, one does not watch it. The endless assault by both sides on the entertainment world is sad example of just how pathetically cowardly and self righteous the pundit class has become. Contrary to O’Reilly’s rantings, the studios are not obligated to be politically neutral, in the same way that the news networks are not required to be neutral.

BTW, I never watch L&O. I think it is a pathetic program regardless of its politics. I also don’t watch the pathetic pundits. I find South Park to be more genuine than Olbermann, O’Reilly, Beck, Maddow and the rest.

I don’t like L & O either – but hey, it’s entertainment, not journalism, right? Isn’t that the Beck/O’Reilly/Limbaugh meme, too? As for “Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Bill O’Reilly t(being)“a cancer spreading ignorance and hate” — well, hell, they are!! Ever listen to those shows and the hate mongering, the name calling, the smearing and lying? If the answer is yes yet you’re here to defend them, get real — better yet, try to increase you IQ to at least above 50.

  • hkyplayer

“We must shut up Beck and O’Reily…. The masses might use there brains and start thinking smart… We’ll lose our control”….
How can we keep the poor voting for the Democrats … keep pushing more welfare and food stamps…. Hmmm, we can do it with PR feeding off the guilt in Hollywood and the really rich Like Opra and the really really dumb actors that are more concerned about attention then anything else. Bingo!

  • Nachi

Well-stated by L & O. Truth is often discomforting to insufficient minds. Hate-mongers always seek out other hate-mongers. Like a moth drawn to the flame – it is only there that they find personal comfort.

  • TfT

Law and Order is a pretty pathetic show to begin with. How stupid of them to call out specific individuals…..just turns off a good chunk of the viewers and gets those they are trying to dismiss more attention. The left never learns.

It’s kind of like the senator’s talking about Rush on the senate floor; how stupid are they? Blaming Rush and the republicans for not getting obama/reid/pelosicare passed when the dems are in total control of congress. Too funny.

  • Ted

TfT – Does this mean that a “good chunk” of the viewers are BillO, Limbaugh and Beck fans? And why would such erudite group of individuals watch “a pretty pathetic show” to begin with? Maybe they are in reality, dumb asses. It could be that simple.

  • TfT

Ted – I concur – the folks that wrote the show are a bunch of dumb asses.

  • Ted

Sorry TfT, I’ll write slower next time.

Glad you showed up to expose your stupidity, blue. Get furlough from the academy? See folks, blue doesn’t like history lessons – particularly when they make him look dumb. So, he calls me anti-semitic, which I’m not, but it makes him feel better. I want blue to go back and pull up the post he claims makes me anti-semitic. ANd here’s my response and I think blue is in the academy to join the warsaw JPD.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_Ghetto_Police

Next, ol’ blue here will criticize wiki. But that’s ok – there’re plenty of other sites and they all confirm wiki on this issue. I see blue as one who would betray his people, a self hating individual. One who could be relied upon to “who could be relied upon to follow German orders.[1]” That I point that out, that he’s anti-semitic, bugs blue.

  • changemonger

    @ Trickletown:

I’ve been talking about this for a while. Keith Olbermanns blood boils over Glenn Beck, but now the reasons are becoming screwed. At first I thought it was merely ratings, then I thought it was Becks settled home life, now I’m thinking he’s paid to hate Glenn.

Heres my reasons: Becks whimpy 5pm slot more than doubles KO’s primetime slot. Beck is a recovering alchoholic but now has a settled home life with a family, while KO’s dating a tornado chaser half his age (yeah, he’s dating someone who chases destruction… no coincidence there), and finally, now that GE belongs to Obama, so does Keith Olbermann. GE>NBC>MSBNC>KO.

But I digress. BO and BG are no cancer and no violence has been inspired by them, which is why the claim made its way to fantasy land.

So Keith has many reasons to hate the bright light in his eyes.

Awww… Billy. I’m sorry, but you miss the point. I’m not disputing the fact that there WERE some Jews who tried to protect themselves and their families by turning on their own. That’s simply a sad fact.

However, for you to refer to me, after I’ve explicitly said (in the same thread) that I’m Jewish (Happy Hanukah to all) as a member of JGP simply because I disagree with you IS anti-Semitism. It’s incredibly offensive and stupid… but as anyone who has read your posts before, that’s par for the course.

In short, your claim that I’m a “Jewish Nazi,” simply because I’m not a left-wing Liberal is simply unacceptable. And I will continue to highlight just how much of an offensive bigot you are. Sorry if reminding people of your instability, your anger, and your anti-Semitism is a problem for you.

No wait… I’m not sorry. Nevermind.

  • Jelperman

Nothing like the Golden Mean Fallacy, is there Trickledown?

Keith Olbermann ridicules people for lying and saying stupid things, especially Falafel O’Reilly. On the other side, O’Reilly lies and makes moronic racist comments, sends his semen-crusted little stalkers out to harass anyone who displeases him, threatens to sic Fox Security on anyone who makes fun of him, files nuisance suits against people who point out what a lying putz he really is, and helped set up Dr. George Tiller for assassination.

Which, according to the concern trolls here at Mediaite, means the two are just alike, only with different politics.

  • Pat Doherty

    Jelperman

Please explain to me how O’Reilly set up Tiller for assasination. If you have the time, please cite examples of him siccing Fox Security on “anyone who makes fun of him.”

Also please enlighten us concern trolls on how Olbermann’s presentation of staged waterboardings as genuine (cf. Mancow Mueller), declaring people “The Worst Person in the World” for things they never said (cf. Rudy Giuliani), and use of selective editing to demand the firing of an ABC News employee for selective editing (cf. David Wright) is honest.

  • MsHadEnough

These forums are not for private issue bickering. Adkins & Blue knock it off!

  • Jelperman

By constantly referring to Tiller as “Tiller the Killer”, stalking him with his producers, showing his picture on TV so other stalkers can track him down, Falafel Boy was openly inciting the murder of Dr. Tiller. He even referred to Tiller as “Dr. Killer” after he was assassinated.

You can listen to O’LIE-ly threatening a caller with a visit from “Fox Security” here.

The rest of your post is a pack of lies.

  • SWWT

Yes, it was Bill O’Reily’s fault that someone else killed Tiller. There was probably an episode of Law & Order about it too.

  • timzank

Jelperman, you give all celebrity pundits waaaay too much credit for their ability to incite violence. They incite nasty rebuttles from partisan hacks like yourself and that’s about it.

Your examples are complete jack assery as well. O’reilly’s slip of the tongue was in no way deliberate, much as this one wasn’t deliberate:

“Why don’t we just ask Osama bin — Osama Obama — Obama what — since he won by such a big amount. Seriously, Senator Obama is really unique and special.” Said by Ted Kennedy…

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A4354-2005Jan12?language=printer

As for the Fox security/radio show crap, the show had been inundated with callers once on the air dishing out obscenities & laced with liberal talking points…Olby just seized upon one little slice or snippet out of context to create a piece for his show based on bullshit. He’s nothing if not consistent.

  • Pat Doherty

    Jelperman

George Tiller was shot in both arms in 1991; was that O’Reilly’s fault too? He was a national figure and target of Christian extremists long before Bill O’Reilly started calling him “Tiller the Baby Killer.” The fact that O’Reilly took issue with Tiller performing infanticides and that some lunatic ended up shooting Tiller doesn’t mean O’Reilly “set him up for assassination.” I know that was Keith’s talking point that day, but he also claimed he would retire the O’Reilly caricature in light of Tiller’s murder. As we all know now, he did so because Immelt told him to. It had nothing to do with Tiller’s murder. Was that another example of Olbermann’s honesty?

Hey, Jelp. In the “Moment of Glenn” post, I posted an article about Olbermann misrepresenting information, and hypocritically complaining about someone else, while doing the exact same thing. I’m interested to hear your take on why that’s okay… or how that makes Olbermann better than anyone else.

I love how everyone ignores the fact that tiller the baby killers murderer was looking
at possibly dying in prison for gluing the doors shut on that abortion clinic..again and had
nothing to lose. That means zip right? Sometimes you have to step out of your blind dogma
    to see the truth.
