Limbaugh Hits Back At Mediaite For ‘Introducing Race’ On Eric Holder Story
Rush Limbaugh was not happy with Mediaite and this writer today. The reason was yesterday’s post on his comments on Eric Holder’s Black Panther case comments (This is the Inception of news stories; comments within comments within comments). However, interestingly enough, Limbaugh was not upset that the post claimed he “got his facts wrong,” but rather that it “accused [him] of introducing race” to the story.
“I get up today and I’ve got an email from somebody saying, ‘Do you realize you’re being attacked for introducing race into the story?’ I said, ‘What? I am being attacked for introducing race into the story?’ ‘Yes, it’s on Mediaite.’ So, I went there. I went to Mediaite and, indeed, I, El Rushbo, am being accused of introducing race, once again, in a very risky way, into the story of Eric Holder saying he didn’t want anywhere near the Black Panther story because it hurts him because those are ‘his people.’”
He repeatedly paraphrased my opening sentence which actually reads “Rush Limbaugh continued to wade into the dangerous waters of race by discussing comments Eric Holder made…,” linking the situation to Limbaugh’s statement on Friday that Planned Parenthood was “doing the job the Klan could never finish.” In truth, I wrote that Limbaugh was discussing the topic of race because he was accusing Holder of using the “race card” (a phrase Limbaugh himself used) when, in actuality, Holder was just responding to something Bartle Bull said.
I never said Limbaugh was “introducing race.” I said Limbaugh was discussing the topic of race because he was accusing Holder of using the “race card,” a phrase Limbaugh himself used. My point was that Holder hadn’t brought up civil rights from the 60′s himself as Limbaugh alleged. In actuality, Holder was just responding to something Bartle Bull said.
God, this is making the plot of Inception seem like Run, Spot, Run.
Given the strangely meta nature of what Limbaugh was saying, something tells me that, like the Planned Parenthood comments, he mostly made this rant to get a rise out of someone (in this case, our site). So, as I said in that post, congratulations, Mr. Limbaugh. Mission accomplished.
