We want to applaud Maggie Gyllenhaal for wearing Dries Van Noten. But with all of Van Noten’s incredible dresses, why choose this one? The fit was awkward and the print brings to mind cheap tropical locales. All in all, a strange choice for the usually stylish actress.

Jennifer Lopez’s Armani Privé garment is what happens when creativity and courage fall flat. While Saldana’s ruffles were inspiring, Lopez’s side-pouf (for lack of a better word) seems to serve up volume for volume’s sake, alone. And though the color is certainly pretty, its softness was spoiled by the fabric’s unnecessary shine.

It’s rare for Armani Privé to make a misstep, let alone two, but Amanda Seyfried’s bridal-gone-bad gown featured the same shiny material that marred J-Lo’s pale mauve monstrosity, in addition to a boring, uninspired silhouette.

Miley, Miley, Miley. Well, at least the girl is consistent. Miley Cyrus made her Oscar debut in a Jenny Packham gold gown with an ill-fitting bustier top. Cyrus should have spent more time at the tailor — or opting for a different gown — and less time figuring out the best way to accentuate her collar bones, posture be damned.
