Following Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) marathon filibuster on Wednesday which earned him a scolding from Sens. John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC), the junior senator from Kentucky has been on a media blitz. On Friday, Paul told former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee on his afternoon radio program that he does not believe he has ever done anything that merits McCain calling him a “wacko.” “I treat Sen. McCain with respect. I don’t think I always get the same in return,” Paul said.
“I also think that when, you know, it’s always the wacko birds on right and left that get the media megaphone,” McCain said of Paul’s filibuster of CIA Director John Brennan in order to compel the White House to make it clear that they will not execute American citizens on U.S. soil via drone.
McCain said his comment was in reference to “Rand Paul, [Sen. Ted] Cruz, [Rep. Justin] Amash, whoever.”
“You know, I think he’s just on the wrong side of history, and on the wrong side of this argument, really,” Paul told Huckabee.
