Rush Limbaugh Attacks GOP Leadership: “Where Is The Republican Vision?”

audio

With the tax cut deal in place (except for Bernie Sanders’ bazillion hour filibuster), it would seem to be all Liberal grousing and Conservative champagne popping. Or is it? Some Conservatives are also not thrilled and one of them appears to be none other than Rush Limbaugh who, today, went off on a fiery tirade against the lack of “Republican vision” on his radio show.

“At first, the first of the week, people go, “Alright! My taxes won’t go up! Alright! Alright!’ Why should we settle for that? We won the election. In the process of settling for that, why start adding a bunch of pork?

Right now, there is no Republican position. Everything we’re hearing is what the Democrats think and what they want. Where is the Republican vision? Have you heard them say it? Have you heard Mitch McConnell articulate the Republican vision here? Have you heard Boehner? Have you?”

If there’s one thing the government’s been capable of the past few years, it’s consistency. A whole bunch of legislation that everyone can be unhappy with. And people say we live in a divided country.

The GOP have been hiding under their rock because no matter how you slice it their half of the tax compromise is tax cuts for the rich.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jon-Martin/43100610 Jon Martin

The Republican vision is to attack Obama while he’s in office and make sure he can’t do anything that makes him look good.

A mature response might have been to vote what you actually support and vote against what you don’t support, to make the American people’s lives easier and “freer”.

It’s so simple and yet… what’s so hard about it?

Did Republicans really need to turn down money for 9/11 first responders?

The Republicans just don’t give a shit about anyone. It’s the crazies thing I’ve ever seen, they have next to no morality. They will shoot down things for poor people, and even 9/11 first responders… it’s a fucking joke.

Fact: BFD stays that he wants to steal from those who earn more than he does because he feels the need to pick their pockets of their money. I find him to be a kleptomaniac. He’s so stupid to balance his own checkbook so he just caries the fuck you tax payers charge card that he and all the other bottom feeder democrats carry. Hey look all the brightest in his party had to pay up just to get the jobs they have in government now. So there is why or what should the rest do but follow their lead and panhandle for more of others earned income. The rich did it for themselves so man up and do it too! Whippy piece of crap! Get off the tit!

This is a TRILLION DOLLAR SPENDING “deal” made in lunatic-left d-crat socialist heaven. Overall, this is a BAD deal for America – “You Lie!” hussein only bent slightly, while the Ruling Class, out-of-touch establishment Repubs (especially mealy-mouth mcconnell) caved in to more economic/social atrocities from the lunatic-left. That is why Jim DeMINT appropriately opposes this “deal”.

THE GOOD: improves the d-crat socialists’ beloved DEATH TAX and doesn’t raise taxes in an economy hobbled by the failed policies of the d-crat socialists – including NOT raising taxes on small business owners to encourage job creation.

THE STINKINGLY BAD: cut the 6.2 percent Social Security payroll tax by 2 percentage points next year (…economic insanity: take a BANKRUPT Social Security program and make it EVEN MORE BANKRUPT !)

THE HORRIBLY UGLY: massively increases the national debt and deficit to preserve a bundle of lunatic-left tax credits and giveaways, including the earned income tax credit, the child tax credit and an outrageous tax credit that helps pay college tuition, helping create a “permanent” class of unemployed living off government welfare, earmarks for special interests, including ethanol subsidies, film and television producer tax breaks, give aways for Puerto Rican rum manufacturers, favors for auto racing track owners, a hand-out for businesses in American Samoa and on and on and on.

However, I do enjoy watching the leader of the lunatic-left, crazy pelosi, slap down their token and figurehead, “You Lie!” hussein, over this !

I thought they articulated their vision; to undermine Obama at any cost so that they can make political gains counter to what is in the best interest of the people.

Fact: Re-read it lazy dumb shit!

Fact: Why should the government pay for something that the union thugs where in charge of every site of the crews in the clean-up efforts. They had resources to provided for PPE equipment, so when they sent workers out to the sites but instead of providing the PPE equipment. Figure it out butt munch. They pocketed the extra money for the union coffers. So don’t go pushing your chickenshit blame where it doesn’t belong. Have the union fork it back up! I had the link up the other day that you regular assholes didn’t the read it. Those who post daily pull the jug out of your ass take another swig of Kool Aid. Hell face the FACTS you where just too lazy to read it or pull it up. Hey you’re cleaning waste so next time doesn’t hire a dumbshit to do the work that can’t tell I might be in a dangerous situation. Spoon feed the handout fuckers from cradle to grave. Tim, I posted this yesterday, but it goes along with what you are saying and needs repeating:

Class Warriors Got What They Wished For

A funny thing happened on the way to spreading the wealth: wealth dried up.

A good class warrior wishes for three things (at least).
For tax rates to be highest on the richest. Ideally, only the rich would pay taxes. The Father of Class War, Karl Marx, made “a heavy progressive or graduated income tax” one of the ten planks of his Manifesto.
For no one to be super-rich. Ideally, no one would make more than some amount considered too much. Barack Obama, the Son of Class War, once said, “I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money.”
For government to have plenty of money so that it can spread the wealth and help the needy. The Democratic Party, the Holy Ghost of Class War, put this in its 2008 platform: “For families making more than $250,000, we’ll ask them to give back a portion of the Bush tax cuts to invest in health care and other key priorities.”

Now think about that for a moment. If the class warriors got their first two wishes, their third wish would be impossible. If you tax only the rich, yet you have no rich, then government collects no revenue. You can’t spread wealth if there is no wealth.

And here is the punchline: that is exactly what is happening now, just not as starkly

You are sadly mistaken. It was just the opposite.

The Republican’s voted it down precisely because all that was allowed was an “up or down” vote, when they wanted to add amendments to the bill.

You really should get your facts straight before you post.

How is it possible for the avowed socialist Bernie Sanders to serve in our Senate?

Wouldn’t that be considered an enemy within?

From the senate.gov website, this is the Oath of Office, as it is administered to US Senators.

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

On Senator Sander’s own Senate.gov webpage, an article appears which describes Sanders as a socialist:

When Vermonters chose Sanders to replace retired Sen. Jim Jeffords, I-Vt., in 2006, some senators doubted whether the impassioned socialist known for his untamed white hair and fiery oratory would fit in with the staid Senate.

I thought the Republican vision was to deny the President any legislative victories no matter how big or how small. Even going so far as to vote against the START treaty which is a Republican Treaty and ends up putting our country at greater risk. The Republican vision for our country is anti-American and seeks to destroy the fabric of our Democracy all in the name of winning the next election.

This fight isn’t about “getting rid of rich people”. It’s about not giving away what little money we have to those that are already well off enough.

Fact: America’s best days are in front of her — if only we have the guts to face the truth and apply ourselves to repairing the foundation upon which this blessed nation was formed. The doctor (Just4thefax) is in and the diagnosis is clear: in Liberalism Is a Mental Disorder, Conservatives provides a remedy to help freedom-loving Americans effectively medicate the mental disease of modern liberalism and restore America’s former brilliance. Modern liberalism: “made in much the same way as a sausage — it’s a blend of fascist, Communist, and socialist ideologies from twentieth century Europe, with a pinch of Nazism, all ground together, yet retaining the flavor of its various parts”. So it’s clear to me and also most here that post liberals are in need of help. So go get some free on. All you libereal democrat dumb shit kiss my ass!

Wait are you seriously trying to convince people that Republicans believe in less government and less spending? What a fucking joke. Bush spent so much money he turned all of you people into tax and spend liberals. He passed the largest unfunded Government program in its history with Medicare Part D. He spent billions on two wars that weren’t even in the budget.

The Republican Party is now the party of spend spend spend and screw the consequences. Not to mention them pushing for a 700 Billion increase to the Debt for the tax cuts for the rich. Something our idiotic President agrees with.

I say vote them all out and keep the good ones like Sanders and I will even take Ron Paul on the right. The Republcan vision for America is spend spend spend and steal the rest of the dwindling wealth from the middle and lower classes.

It is the middle class that is becoming extinct.

Answer my question…When is it enough?
When the top 1% control 40% of the wealth?
    50%?
    60%?
    70%
No limit? Just let the wealthy keep buying GOP lawmakers to give them more wealth?

Hey RL, read this article and let me know what you think. He hits the nail squarely on the head:

Why do Democrats love dependence? Because everything else is their competition

It’s often said that the Democratic Party is anti-business. In a sense, that’s true, but it’s ironic. The Democratic Party may be the biggest and most sophisticated business in America. And it acts like most other businesses.

    The other guys.
The objective of a business is to convince as large a market as possible to purchase a product or service, and this is generally done by convincing the people in that market that their lives won’t be as complete without whatever it is you’re offering.

The Democrats offer any number of things that might be categorized as “benefits,” a description that holds insofar as it describes things that purportedly either make your life better or, at the very least, protect you from some sort of catastrophe you couldn’t handle if left to your own devices.

The reason Democrats are anti-business, therefore, is that private-sector businesses compete with government – and thus, with Democrats, the party of government – to provide the goods, services and benefits that make your life better.

Do you need a doctor? Then just go see one. But no, say Democrats. Doctors will rip you off unless we, Democrats, make sure they don’t. Do you need a good income? Then start a business or go work for someone else’s business. But no, say Democrats. The market is unfair, corrupt and rigged against you! You need us to confiscate money from those who have made money so we can give it to you.

Do you want a raise? Then go ask your boss. But no, say Democrats. Your boss is a greedy capitalist pig who will probably fire you for even asking. We’ll get you into a union (trust us, you’ll love it) that will negotiate your wages on your behalf.

A business does everything it can to persuade you that it can meet your needs, and that its competitors cannot.

HAHAHA! Thanks for the laughs, but it makes me sad at the same time. These are grownups who can’t spell…what has happened to our educational system? and it’s not just the public system…as a side note:

My father-in-law was talking about how his niece had been brought up in a well respected Christian school, but unfortunately the costs to keep her there kept increasing so his brother couldn’t afford it anymore and they had to send her to public school. Of course they were concerned that she wouldn’t get the level of education that she had at the previous, private Christian, school…but you get what you pay for, right?

Turns out, once they tested her at the public school…she’s 3 years behind in her math skills and 1 year behind in reading comprehension.

So it’s not just the public schools that are failing, it’s a social issue. We simply do not seem to care about educating our youth properly.

You can tell by many of the posts on this “Rush” subject, that these are not young people…and the educational system has failed them as well.

Yet, more money via tax cuts for the already well-off, well-educated and not hurting at all from the recent economic conditions…are all some of these posters can talk about.

    for shame, for shame

The money American’s pay in taxes goes to the government to be used for the public. It is paid by all Americans, can we agree on that? In general, the wealthy have accountants that find many manners in which to reduce, if not completely remove, any tax liability on their behalf. Are you aware of that?

    It’s not about ownership, it’s about control…who control’s the taxpayer money..the government…So I still don’t understand what it is you’re getting at.

You can’t choose NOT to pay into Social Security and you cannot TAKE IT BACK whenever you want (although I’d love to get it back and never pay in again, but nobody has that option)

“and 35% percent of their goes to the governmentand” – 35% is not true…you are either being deliberately dishonest, are making a blanket statement showing your personal lack of knowledge on the subject or are simply uninformed. Either way, tax codes are different depending upon the situation.

“paychecks go to the government” – sorry I don’t know what country you live in because I get a paycheck direct deposited into my personal account every couple of weeks.

anyway, I’m done explaining to you what could be learned in a 5th grade Social Studies class.

then maybe the government should close those loopholes you mentioned above…. 35% is the top tax rate

  • cjd ohio 1

or maybe a flat tax of 15% with no deductions for anyone, plus a national sales tax

OK, so most of you who have looked up as I flew over your homes know my airplane has 2 right wings. I had it custom built because I didn’t want to give the impression I would have anything to do with any left wing crap.

However, I am really disappointed with the Republicans who, in order to “sweeten the deal” on the continuance of the Bush tax cuts, added pork barrel spending to the bill. CRIPES, they are no better than the Democrats when it comes to fiscal responsibility; they see no more clearly than the Democrats when it comes to realizing that unless they lead the way with some fiscal responsibility the debt is going to go UP. Senator Chuck Grassley–a man whom I have admired for some time–is even in on the act. %(#*&#@&)!!!!!

To Democrats & Republicans posting here: We are being played the fool. We are being controlled by our elected representatives and NOT the other way around! They serve US, WE don’t serve them! Their collective strategy is to keep us bickering amongst ourselves while they sell us down the river. This is wrong! Don’t allow yourselves to be played for a fool. Decide today that you will work for those things that have made America the greatest country that has ever existed and when you see your elected representatives straying from this country’s founding principals, find someone else to entrust with your vote who will keep the vision of America alive.

It is not the same tax rate, we are all put into different brackets determined by our income.

your communist remark, not the flat tax remark

  • cjd ohio 1

no shit, i know the tax brackets now

  • cjd ohio 1

listen carefully, a flat tax of 15% on all income for everyone. People that make 10,000….15%, people that make 100,000 ….15%. That would be fair. National sales tax…….5% for everthing but food. Easy tax system. Not communist or socialist just fair

  • cjd ohio 1

progressive tax brackets breed people who dodge taxes, and people who pay no income taxes…….

    I’m with you on that!

But how do we get that done? I completely agree with you on your previous post as well. They DO want us bickering amongst ourselves. The perfect cover to avoid addressing the economic classism that is behind these decisions.

I have nothing against people being wealthy, it’s when they take more than they need while others are getting less and less (minimum wage, cost of living increases, job availability, job wages, outsourcing, loopholes in the tax codes).

It won’t end without a revolution..the numbers continue to trend towards the country’s wealth moving more and more towards the top 1% of earners. They’re not working any harder, they’ve just been given the ability to influence (control?) our government even easier.

fair does not = capitalism, and that’s the economic society we have.

But I agree with you…we need to change the current tax structure, drastically. I’m open to the idea of a flat tax personally, as long as they remove corporation’s abilities to dodge them.

Exxon Mobile paid no taxes last year, had record profits, and got over a million in returns. Is that fair?

Yeah right, “Republican vision” Sabotaging Obama and the Dems unless they give in to the continuation of the Republican tax cuts to to those making $250,000 or higher. IOW tax cuts to the super rich and not to those who most need it, deserve, the middle class and below. The super wealthy are most capable for paying taxes. Yes I realize Obama gave in to the Repuglicans. I feel somewhat encouraged Nancy Pelosi is willing and hopefully can do something to reverse this repugnant decision by our president.

Thank you for your willingness to engage in what I hope you will find to be a worthwhile dialogue. I don’t claim to have all the answers but I might have a few that are worthy of consideration.

First, “We the People” have to find our common ground and lay aside our bickering about petty crap long enough to launch our “peaceful” revolt. (I hope it can be a peaceful one–I truly do!) Having found our common ground, we would have to become politically active and communicate clearly that unless our demands are met by those in office, we will vote in unison to send them home. Of course, they wouldn’t believe us at first, but after one or two elections, we could have our elected representatives jumping through OUR hoops for a change, and not the other way around.

Perhaps the first “assault” would rightfully be against that tax code you mentioned–I think it basically SUX! There is no reason why our tax code is some 60,000 pages; it is those loopholes you mentioned that make it so. IF we had a flat tax (consumption tax or national sales tax, if you will) that was both: 1. set at a fixed rate that could not be changed without a 2/3 majority of both the House and Senate, and; 2. exempted necessities such as food and non-luxury items, there is no reason why the tax code would be more than 10 pages. Disbanding the IRS would take ~100,000 bureaucrats off the Federal payrolls and that money could go toward paying off the national debt. The downside is that the tax preparers’ lobby would go apoplectic, but it would be best overall for the country.

Another item would necessarily be to DEMAND a thorough evaluation of ALL government agencies, offices, and bureaus, overseen by an independent accounting firm, to see where the fat can be cut. Such a report would have to be published and, again, “We the People” would have to get off our asses to review it. Offhand, I would envision that such a review would consider: 1. fulfillment of mission; 2. budgetary impact, and: 3. redundancy. One entity that has NEVER fulfilled its mission is the Department of Energy, and since ~1975 they’ve been sucking down ~$21 billion/year. I know we must have a military, and I want our military to be the best equipped military in the world, but I believe it can be run more efficiently. In many cases, various agencies, offices, and bureaus cover the same ground as do others; this is especially true in HHS, HUD, Dept. Ed., but DOJ, DHS, and State often overlap in their missions. Why not combine those functions? Furthermore, why not DEMAND that they secure our borders and round up and deport all the CRIMINAL aliens who are sucking down our tax dollars and taking our jobs? I’m not saying these are the only areas to cut the budget; there are MANY others.

Just as you and I have to balance our budgets, so should the government, and a balanced budget Amendment is desperately needed in our Constitution.

I don’t know where you are on healthcare, but if it’s anything like Medicare and Social Security, it’s going to be costly. I’ve read some 1100 pages of the bill and aside from being one of the more ambiguous documents I’ve ever laid eyes on, I have found where it calls for the addition of some 60 NEW government agencies/bureaus–ALL of which will suck down more taxpayer dollars. I’m told the bill calls for ~200 new government offices! I’m not against people having healthcare who need it and can’t afford it but I’m also aware of 4 Federal laws that require doctors and hospitals to provide lifesaving care to patients, regardless of their ability to pay. All I’m saying is there has to be a better way.

I believe a lot of our country’s problems are born in the fact that DC is full of lobbyists and their special interest groups–these people get the laws passed that you and I have to suffer under. It is only too rare that we see some schnook of a congressman or senator prosecuted for taking bribes. My idea is that lobbyists should be hanged from every tree on Pennsylvania Avenue, but that’s just me. If “We the People” DEMAND an end to special interest money poured into our representatives pockets and a special and independent investigative agency to make certain it doesn’t happen, we have a chance of turning things around. If we set on our asses, nothing will happen except that things will get worse.

We have to embrace the reality of the present and prepare now for our future. In case you haven’t noticed, American schools (run by the Department of Education), suck bigtime! There are lots of sources to look at but here is one: http://www.all4ed.org/files/IntlComp_FactSheet.pdf If DoE will not or cannot improve its performance, we have to DEMAND vouchers so our kids can get a decent education at a private school. I have had the sad experience of supervising engineers and technicians who had impressive GPAs but their skills were not up to par and most of them couldn’t write a coherent report if their lives depended on it. I had one engineer who eventually went back to school so “they could learn him how to write.” (Sheesh!)

So, you have a few menu items. Which one do you want to work on first? The important thing is that you become active in effecting change; be on a first-name basis with your congressperson and both senators. I write my reps once per week. I try to keep it respectful but communicate my expectations in no uncertain terms. I hope you will do the same.

A couple of questions/remarks on your statement:

    1. What does “take more than they need” mean? Should we not try to earn all we possibly can? I’ve always tried to do that. I hope you have, too. If we are not allowed to earn as much as our talents and abilities allow, we are not in a capitalistic system. Back when I was struggling in life, I had some resentment for the rich, but as I matured, I realized that if I wanted more money, I would have to work harder and smarter for it. I hope you will check into Jon Huntsman Sr. He wrote a book entitled “Winners Never Cheat.” It’s an easy read about a billionaire who has vowed to die broke.

    2. You mentioned minimum wage. I know you have seen some people earning minimum wage who aren’t worth half what they’re being paid. Normally, capitalism enables people to earn as much as they’re worth, but since there are some unethical people who would practically enslave others, minimum wage is a necessity.

    3. Cost of living increases apply mainly to those who work for government and are on SS. I was disappointed to learn that one of my retired neighbors hasn’t gotten an increase in SS for the last two years. Why? Because two years ago, the method to calculate cost of living was changed to exclude costs for fuel and food. Who did that to us and why did they do it?

    4. Outsourcing is a real issue needing action, but what action? Have you considered that the US has the 2nd highest corporate taxes in the free world? Have you considered that regulations enacted in 1974 have made it impossible to build a new oil refinery in the US because the emission standards STILL cannot be achieved? This is one part of the outsourcing problem and it’s getting worse by the day: http://economyincrisis.org/content/more-american-factories-closing
But the other part is that our labor costs us more and the products we produce are non-competitive. Protectionism is not the answer; that has been tried and it fails miserably every time. The answer is in decreasing regulations on businesses, decreasing taxes–especially on heavy manufacturers–and busting unions. (The last part might not sit well with you but it’s a major factor in our economic problems and unions are one of the most heavily represented lobbying groups in DC.)

    5. If you look at the drivers for cost of living, I believe you would see a “hockey stick” curve beginning about 1940. By 1955, the US saw a rapid increase in the numbers of homes where both partners worked. There are a LOT of theories on why this happened but one theory is that taxes went up dramatically during that time. Everyone got slammed.
