The New York Post Welcomes LeBron James To NYC

The New York Post, whose cover following the Lebron-a-thon earlier this week was rather disappointing, did not mince words this morning. LeBron James was apparently in town to attend the “blinged-out” wedding of fellow NBA star Carmelo Anthony held at Cipriani 42nd Street. Per the Post:

What’s the matter LeBron, can’t take the HEAT?!

NBA star LeBron James looked more like a cowering subject than king last night during his return to the city that hates him — less than 48 hours after dissing New York and signing a contract to play for the rival Miami Heat.

The self-anointed “King James,” in town to attend the blinged-out wedding of fellow NBA star Carmelo Anthony at Cipriani 42nd Street, darted stone-faced from a limo and refused to take questions from reporters.

If nothing else, be assured the Knicks vs. Heat games will provide the city with some good headlines.

LeBron might have gone to the Knicks if it wasn’t for the outrageously high New York taxes. He will save more than ten million in state and local taxes on his contract with Miami. And when he establishes Florida residence, he will save even more on his endorsement deals with Nike, etc.

Serves NY right. They vote in tax-and-spend politicians, and they lose high income people. The irony is that the liberal press doesn’t notice it when a corporation or investment firm leaves New York — which has an even more devastating financial impact — but they shed tears when the lose a guy whose only talent is throwing a ball into a hoop.

I think the Knicks and Nets dodged a bullet. After watching LaBron dance around with his boyz at the big Miami Heat dance party it occurs to me that James would never had have made it in New York. If you’re idea of an introduction consists of you dancing with your High School buddies you’re wayyyyy too soft to make it in the Big Apple.

When new players come to the Yankees, they dress in a suit and act like an adult and a professional. Young LaBron doesn’t seem ready for that yet. One day, he may be able to play on the big stage but for now let him enjoy “South Beach”. It will be interesting to see if his guarantee of 8+ championships come about.

Typical dumbass wingnut response. LBJ didn’t opt for Miami rather than NY because of money. You have no fucking clue! He could have stayed in Cleveland if he was money hungry. NY Knicks, team and management just sucks!

Sure, Averreauxil, no athlete wouldn’t pay any attention to a tiny thing like ten million dollars plus in tax savings. And alll those jobs leaving high tax states must be an optical illusion perpetrated by Sarah Palin. Keep on dreaming, my friend.
