‘We’ll Shut It Down!’: Black Lives Matter Protesters Hijack Bernie Sanders Rally
Black Lives Matter protesters hijacked a Bernie Sanders rally yesterday, with two women confronting Sanders right at his podium and shouting at him to let them be heard, weeks after he and Martin O’Malley got an earful from protesters at Netroots Nation.
Sanders was in Seattle, and right after he fired up the crowd by talking about how progressive the city is, they walked right over to Sanders and demanded to have a voice, as others chanted “black lives matter!” from the crowd.
The entire rally basically went off-the-rails as the women argued with someone apparently from the campaign saying, “We are trying to be reasonable.” They shouted, “We are reasonable!”
They threatened to shut down the entire rally unless one of them was able to speak, crying, “Let her speak or we’ll shut it down!”
When they did get the chance to speak, one of the women welcomed Sanders to Seattle and went off on the racial issues they have to deal with, even invoking today’s one-year anniversary of Michael Brown‘s death.
