CNN Early Start Host Ashleigh Banfield Introduces Viewers To Her Kids, Mujahideen Of Tora Bora

VIDEO

On January 2, CNN will unveil a new slate of morning programming, with the 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. block anchored by Ashleigh Banfield and Zoraida Sambolin. And based on the preview video CNN just put out, the show, driven by Banfield, could turn out to be a fun success from the start.

While Sambolin seems excited to just be in New York and have her new co-workers allllmost pronounce her name correctly, Banfield seems downright giddy to be joining the lineup. She shows off her new CNN ID card and stationery with her name on it (“So, if you get one of these cards, you know it came straight From The Desk Of,”), while recounting her first TV job, which she traveled to by boat.

But Banfield’s best line came when going through pictures of her “babies” that were on her desk.

“This is Ridley. This is Fisher,” she says, before reaching for a photo in the array of frames that has two grown men and Banfield holding a gun, “This is… well…I don’t really know their names, but they’re the Mujahideen of Tora Bora.”

“Do you know who I am?”  Uggh.  No, and if you don’t leave, I’m going to call security.  That would have been a better answer.

Who keeps a picture of random Taliban guys on their desk?

“Here is a picture of my kids, next to this picture of these old school misogynistic, murderous war lords that I used to hang with.”  - Ashley Banfield

“I’m hip, I’m “with it”" – Doctor Evil

Classic liberal.  I’m sure she’d let Troy Davis or Jamaal ”Free” Mumia babysit her kids to demonstrate her “tolerance”.

Moral relativism is more than just a paradox, it’s social elite currency.

Biden declared the Taliban our official ally. (facepalm)

once again, swoooosh right over you right wing meat heads. I love it when all I see is right winger comments, and they all appear to be lost in space.

Space is their natural habitat.  And conservative blogs are their equivalent of the new York TImes and Wall Street Journal.

Chill.  If I got close enough to some Taliban guys to have my picture taken with them – and lived – I’d probably put it on my desk too.

  • Anonymous

Yeah, we all strive to rise to your level of intelligence.  Hahaha

She probably meet our troops who were brave and risked their lives but had no interest in having there photos on her desk!

Because it is cool and hip to defend and praise men who will stone gays or chop off woman’s heads.

here is a little mantra for yo, feel free to use  whenever you feel down on yourself and just not up to par with your thinking liberal counterparts.. ” I think I can, I think I can, I think I can….”

  • Anonymous

someone needs to right? If it was left to the right, their idea of fun is shooting animals and watching cars race in circles. Woot Woot!

  • Anonymous

Well, would  not be much different than if she had pictures of members of the IDF on her desk. All indiscriminate murderers in my mind.. just putting things in perspective. One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.. who are we to judge

  • Anonymous

Yeah that’s exactly where she’s coming from… illogical but you have curried favor at the next black tie event…

  • Anonymous

Exactly.. thank you… moral relativist gibberish!!!  you actually believe it too…

    In summation:
“Some people are evil and so are some other people so I will stop discerning between good and evil because it’s like totally hard and gives me a headache”

“I do evil stuff but it’s in my own best interest so how evil can it really be?”

If you don’t hold office, you will soon

Biden never said they were our “ally”.

Banfield was a good reporter way back in her NBC days. She did good coverage of the 9/11 aftermath in NYC.

Ahhh.. the usual bullhockey attributing morality to a group to the exclusion of another purely based on race

But since you invoked ‘morality’, you’re the degree of zealotry exhibited by a group of citizens of an extreme religion state defending their own land from foreign invaders may be explainable…. whereas that same degree of zealotry exhibited by another group of extreme religious zealots citizens of another religious state defending land they stole and occupy may be hard to justify… much less attribute ‘morality’ to them

The so-called mojahedeen are not the Taliban, they are the group that
drove the USSR from Afghanistan in the eighties and that Reagan funded
    and armed

She, like micropterus and Dick Cheney, are dyed in the wool conservatives.

This is evident because conservatives are either rich or stupid.  This group might be both.

Just a quick note: Since American Morning was unreasonably
axed like Kiran Chetry, the show seems down the toilet; save the grace of
Christine Romans’ occasional appearance. Miss Zoraida Sambolin is breath of
fresh air but Ashleigh Banfield caters to a self serving agenda
bordering on an over egotistical arrogance and a dissuasive crown. Christine
Romans should replace Banfield with Miss Sambolin or bring
    back, Kiran Chetry.
