Lindsey Graham: Real Target For Afghanistan Withdrawal Is 2014

video

This morning on ABC’s This Week, Senator Lindsey Graham told host Christiane Amanpour that he viewed 2014, not 2011, as the real target for the US’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Amanpour began discussing the well-known deadline of summer 2011, which is when the administration intends to withdraw US troops from Afghanistan. She asked Senator Graham if he believed troops would stay beyond then, to which he responded:

“Yes, I do. I think in summer of 2011, we can bring some troops home, but we’re going to need a substantial number of troops in Afghanistan past that.

2014 is the right date to talk about. That’s when Karzai suggests that Afghans will be in the lead, and I’m very pleased to hear President Obama talk about 2014.

What I want to talk about is winning, having the ability to stabilize Afghanistan and be a good partner with the United States forever. That means we’re going to need military force for quite a while. Post-2014, when the Afghans hopefully get in the lead, it will be great to have a couple of air bases there in perpetuity to help the Afghans to send the right signal to the regions, but none of this is possible unless you have a reliable partner in the Afghan government, so they need to do more quickly on corruption.”

Goober W. Bush left in 2009 having soiled the White House with his very presence – he just ‘wrote’ a book in an attempt to polish that turd that is his legacy.

I don’t understand why Lindsey Graham is on TV expressing his opinion about anything. His opinions don’t seem to represent the opinions of anyone but himself – even Senator McCain has gone another way. With any luck he will be challenged in the Republican primary by a serious opponent, and will be replaced by either a real Republican or a real Democrat – as it says in Revelation 3:15-16
15 “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

WHY in God’s name is ANYONE talking about (or even SUGGESTING) a DATE for troop withdrawl?

Troop withdrawl SHOULD BE some period of time AFTER the Afghanis are able to govern/secure thier own country.

We SHOULD, therefore, be speaking (and rightly so) of a TARGET DATE when we HOPE the Afghanis can Govern and provide security, but, as we ALL KNOW (albeit SOME seem to refuse to acknowledge the REALITY of life/war) – the ENEMY has a VOTE in all conflicts.

If the Taliban and/or Al-Qaeda DON’T abide by our TARGET DATE, then all bets are OFF.

We SHOULD NOT be carving a date in stone (NOR should we be telegraphing our intention to pull-out by a specific date). Doing so only encourages our enemies to “take a break” (until that date) – then resume (with renewed vigor) their attacks!

WHY is this SIMPLE concept SO DIFFICULT for the Liberals in this country (and around the world) to comprehend?

Looks like there’s a potential replacement for Goober lurking.

Hopefully, Mr.Graham’s state will target him for withdrawal in 2012!

Time was I seriously thought Graham had the opportunity to become a notable senator. Not now. His failure has been trying to ride the fence and maintain views that have alienated both conservatives and liberals. To his credit, he is a scholar of the law.

Graham, whom one might be led to believe is the topic of this article, lost me when he caved in on giving amnesty to the criminal aliens who infest our country. I will admit, however, that Mr. Graham “seems” like an intelligent person. One must wonder why a senator from South Carolina is seemingly so invested in giving the criminal aleins the rights and rewards of US citizenship. Might it be there is something untoward going on in his home state, where there is some advantage to having a host of criminal aliens available for some reason?

If the former President George W Bush somehow brought reproach upon his office, tell me then:

What was it that Lyndon Johnson brought upon the office of president? LBJ only squandered $14 BILLION of what was then a dedicated Social Security fund after his cronies broke the trust that enabled him to do so in order to make he and his cronies wealthy off the Vietnam war.

What did Bill Clinton do to sanctify the most powerful office in the world? He only refused to give the order to take out Osama bin Laden, as he dallied about the Oval Office with Monica Lewinsky…and others…while his pals at the Rose Law Firm shredded reams of documents to destroy evidence that might make he and his wife culpable in the land swindle that was White Water.

Finally, pray tell what -0bama has done to glorify this office? He has been the impetus behind a socialized healthcare bill of which the vast majority of citizens not only do not want, but outright fear. -0bama has given us unemployment rates more than double than those in the previous administration. -0bama has presided over the monetization of our debt which is making our currency no more than worthless fiat paper. -0bama has run up the national debt to an all time high, more than doubling it in the two years he’s held office. Aside from wrecking the economy, -0bama has wrecked our reputation in the world by his kowtowing to foreign leaders, insulting our few remaining allies, and, in general, being an embarrassment to all Americans. His administration is rife with enemies of our Constitution and our way of life. He has grown government like a cancer to proportions where it is stifling the economy.

George W Bush might have made mistakes, but at the end of the day, he is an honorable man and deserving of respect. -0bama, on the other hand, must be treated as an enemy of the United States by anyone with a rational mind.
