MSNBC Anchor David Shuster Is Red Eye‘s Newest Fan

In the wake of David Shuster‘s James O’Keefe reporting/tweeting (and subsequent response from MSNBC PR), Fox News’ Red Eye gave the MSNBC anchor the Robot Theatre treatment.

Well Shuster responded – and apparently he thought it was funny.

Johnny Dollar has the segment from last night on Red Eye, when host Greg Gutfeld read an email from Shuster during the “Mail Time” portion of the show.

I’ve never watched your program. And from what I’ve heard about you and your program about you and your show, we would probably disagree on a lot of things. None the less, I did just see the online clip of the ‘David Shuster Robot’ segment. I fell out of my chair laughing. It was funny and quite creative. Bravo! Thanks for the attention on ‘Red Eye.’

“I always hate it when people you poke fun of turn out to be nice people then you can’t poke fun at them any more,” said Gutfeld. “Damn you, David Shuster.”

But then there was a response from Robot David Shuster as well – with some shots at Keith Olbermann. Wonder if Keith likes the jokes as much as his colleague?

Meanwhile Shuster hasn’t made a peep on Twitter since MSNBC called his direct tweets to O’Keefe “inappropriate.” It will be one week tomorrow morning – we’ve reached out to MSNBC to see if there has been any suspension. Either way, he can communicate through Red Eye‘s in-box…

Here’s the clip from last night:

Gutfeld should be in prime time. He’s hilarious.

I have only met two newsmen of national prominence in my lifetime. Dan Rather, an excellent journalist, was a most arrogant and unpleasant person. David Shuster, for whom I don’t have particularly high regard as a journalist, was, indeed, one of the nicest men I have ever met.

An excellent journalist. Except for that little Bush National Guard story. Oops.

Shuster may be a “nice guy” but he is really trying his hardest to be “Olbermann light”.He’s way to biased to the right for dayside news broadcasts.Even his bosses have told him that apparently. He gets into shouting matches and arguements with left leaning people regularly. His bias kills his credibility as a journalist. His statement of never watching Red Eye kind of hits me like the President never watchs cable news,as total BS.Everybody watches anything that has an impact on them. It’s just trendy to say you don’t.And yes Red Eye is funny and really should be on at times other than the middle of the night.Maybe even on FX since that’s Fox,Red eye is comedy news and FX is edgy.

Someone needs to tell Shuster that ‘nonetheless’ isn’t three separate words. The idiot either went to one of those ‘elite’ schools…or none at all.

@Steve: Have you ever gotten a definitive answer as to why Red Eye is uploaded to Hulu on a two-week delay? I know that I’d probably watch them more, if it wasn’t warmed-over old news.

As long as they don’t mess with “Archer,” by far this year’s funniest new show…

I hope Red Eye stays on at 3am, don’t want to freak the normals who complain when they’re expecting _Huckabee_..

(and I’m sorry, but I like Huckabyyyye when he’s on Red Eye, but can’t stand the standalone show :p)

Red Eye has become my favorite show on FNC, but I do need to record it because I’m working most nights. What makes it so good is that they take people who would normally NEVER get together & talk about things, & put them on a panel. Comics, laywers, politicians, writers, other media types, pundits, actors, & musicians go after it. Where else can you see SE Cupp, Ann Coulter, Jim Norton, & GWAR’s Odorus Urungus on a panel with Greg & Bill & have a great discussion, having fun, & being relivent? Add idiodic video clips, Robot Theater, ex-spys, a pathologist, a priest, THE LEG CHAIR, & a smartass ombudsman, & you have cablenews excelence.
