Obama Marries The Media: Peter Orszag Engaged To ABC News’ Golodryga
President Obama’s budget director Peter Orszag proposed to ABC News business correspondent Bianna Golodryga today in New York, reports the New York Times.
The Washington Post first reported the pair were dating earlier this month.
Orszag and Golodryga met in May at the White House Correspondents Dinner, and have been dating for six months. Orszag is 41, divorced with two kids and Golodryga is 31. Orszag tells the Times the wedding will likely take place in October.
Here’s the kicker from Jackie Calmes:
Mr. Orszag said Ms. Golodryga, 31, probably suspected that he was going to propose this weekend, when they plan a trip to Vermont. Instead he put a “very nice” ring on the table when they had lunch today at Sarabeth’s restaurant near Central Park. He said he got clearance to do so earlier this month from his two children by his first marriage when the three of them vacationed in Florida.
The attraction? “She’s a Russian Jew,” he said, “who gets up earlier than I do.”
Side note: for a few minutes, the two were going to “web” instead:
