Outrage Over Middle School Yearbook List ‘Worst People’: Hitler, Bin Laden, And…George W. Bush

video

Here’s an odd story from Russellville Middle School in Arkansas. There’s a bit of a scandal brewing after it was discovered that this year’s yearbook featured a list of the “Top 5 worst people of all time” that named Adolph Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, Charles Manson, George W. Bush, and Dick Cheney. Yikes.

Meanwhile, little seventh grader Kenny McAlary is thrilled no one’s focusing on how he looks cross-eyed in his picture.

From Arkansas’ Fox 16:

“Superintendent Randall Williams calls the list ‘an oversight.’ Parents caught it after the yearbooks were printed. The district’s solution was to cover the list with tape. It didn’t work.

‘Really?’ said Williams when told the tape could be pulled off. ‘Well that’s disappointing because the yearbook supplier told us this was a definite fix.’”

So, they put black tape over a section on all the yearbooks and expected the middle schoolers to not look under it? I know what just secured a place on the list of “Top 5 worst plans of all time.”

So where did the list come from. Williams explains that the teacher in charge of the yearbook didn’t put it in and is “very, very, very upset” about missing it before printing. Apparently some of the students pulled the thing off of the website Ranker.com, a site where people just make lists of stuff. A cursory search didn’t find the exact list in question although there are a ton of “worst people” rankings that do feature members of the Bush administration like this one, this one, and this one.

Really, though, I’m just amazed at how political these kids are. They really stuck it to Bush, a guy who got into office when they were at most two.

Check out the video report from Fox 16 below and pay special attention to Williams. God, I feel bad for that guy. You can just see the frustration in his eyes as he thinks, “the school year was this close to ending. This close!”

Keith Olbermann is writing for middle schools, now?

  • Dem4Ever

Everyone knows this was done by one or more teachers in this school. This shall not go unpunished.

  • BR

And if they said the same thing about Obama they would be called racists.

If I had to guess I would say there was influence from a liberal teacher (or two).

  • Jelperman

Smart kids, though Bush and Cheney should have ranked higher.

    What goes around, comes around…

Today’s lunatic-left d-cRAT socialist extremists are merely resurrecting a key program of indoctrination used by the Third Reich called the Hitler-Jugend (Hitler Youth), abbreviated HJ. The HJ were viewed as future “Aryan supermen” and were indoctrinated in anti-Semitism. One aim was to instill the motivation that would enable HJ members, as soldiers, to fight faithfully for the Third Reich. The HJ put more emphasis on physical and military training than on academic study. —all this is very similar to the current approach of the socialist teacher’s union – schools are NOT about learning, they are captive audiences for INDOCTRINATION in anti-America hatred, BIG GOVERNMENT supremacy, no freedom of speech for anybody that disagrees with them and the unrestrained greed of public-sector unions.

Your country is largely run by ‘demonic forces’ on the left, the kind that longs to associate George Bush with Charlie Manson, and you know who you are.

Benjamin Franklin saw convincing proofs that “..God Governs in the Affairs of Men..”.
Providence forestalled Osama’s killing and announcement until the 8th anniversary of Bush’s derided “Mission Accomplished” speech.
President Bush, a man of prayer, ordered bin Laden taken “dead or alive”.
Devine timing is George’s answer, and his deriders’ rebuke.
Obama had do little than be ‘present’.

    Wayne Harropson

I would like to hear alternative theories how and why the ‘Osama is dead’ announcement would land on the exact day of the year as Bush’s speech.. I’ll offer you the aforementioned, and of course there is coincidence itself if you are content with that. Any takers for a third?

I really want to hear from the “Bush is like Charlie Manson” people, if you don’t mind.

  • Davo

Of course the teachers aren’t biased. I mean……………..this is sooooooo subtle that NO ONE could possibly have caught it before printing. This is just another reason ALL funding should be stopped for government schools and the indoctrinators fired. Education is far too important to be left in the hands of Democrats.

And most of the above posters engage in rhetoric that is far worse and more insulting than the list in the story. I agree that whoever let that list run should be fired and not allowed to teach again. Partisan politics do not belong in any classroom. Period.

However, that does not excuse the repeated use of far more damaging and offensive rhetoric by both sides on this site.

Oh, TeaPartyPatriot – Nazis again? Seriously? A stupid list in a yearbook that some teacher left in because they thought it was funny does not the Fourth Reich make. You are using extremely incendiary rhetoric to complain about incendiary rhetoric. Ironic much?

And anyone on the left that even tries to defend this is sad and pathetic. No President of the United States should be treated with that level of disrespect in any school. Not Bush or Obama for that matter. There is no excuse for this landing in that yearbook and the parents should be outraged.

Just because the folks here on both sides fling the mud around endlessly does not make it right.

Nazis? Again? Seriously? Sad, sad, sad. It was sad when the left used this on Bush and sad when the right uses it on Obama.

  • avoidswork

Um, I’d like to point out that this occurred in Arkansas. Why should the students’ speech be restricted? Geez, they got “Cheney” in there. Totally true.

So, you peeps above are fuming because of something some 12 to 13 year olds did? Pulled from a Website?

Riiiiiight. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t Arkansas a red state? It’s like 60% republican/conservative.

Shouldn’t we be celebrating the audacity of these kids? And the “fix” of a “sticker” over the list which really just begs to be pulled off?

Right. Strip all funding because of a middle school prank on a yearbook by STUDENTS. Your remarks are absurd, overblown, and completely demonstrate the rabid right’s anti-education meme. You guys are victims of *everything* and afraid of everything.

There is absolutely no harm in what was done. Tasteless? Absolutely. Harm? ((rolls eyes))

The education systems of red states are inhabited by education standards directed from the left just like other states. I’m just glad that someone is imbarrassed about it. There’s some hope.

Is it just me or is this one of the goofiest/confused statements ever? So no matter what anyone says, red states are really secretly run by the left. Unless you agree. Or not. In other words, you are fully prepared to blame the other side, even though this is obviously a prank by students left in by a teacher who clearly violated the rules in Arkansas.

And herein lies why America is stuck in neutral. No matter what the issue or the facts, it will always be about the ability to blame the other side and not at all about resolving the issue. Thus my No Party Affiliation status. In no way do I ever want to be linked to the pathetically partisan who write things like the above.

Here’s a solution – fire the teacher and principal, refund the money for the schoolbooks, rewrite the contract to make the yearbook publisher responsible to at the very least flag such content and create a parents board to review them in the future before printing. Look, no partisan blame. Just dealing with who messed up and moving on.

    Try it sometime.

Chalk it up to lack of respect due to poor parenting or teaching. I don’t care how much I dislike a president, if one of my kids were participating in something like this, I would be embarassed. This is a sad and sorry situation.

No,I am kind of tired of the endless partisan sniping. This is about an idiotic mistake by a teacher and principal in Arkansas- a state firmly in the conservative column. And yet, you found a way to rationalize it to the liberals by a painfully convoluted syllogism.

It is this endless sniping that will keep America in a rut. I am not alleviating Obama’s (and Pelosi and Reid and McConnell and Cantor and – yes – Bush) responsibility for the mess, but if the hyper-partisan lunacy even leaps into what is obviously more of a moron issue than a partisan issue, then how will any of our real problems get resolved?

A yearbook is a product consumed by the entire school to celebrate their academic achievement, it’s absolutely not an appropriate free-speech’ venue for one disgruntled progressive to wedge his politics into other children’s memories.

But it shouldn’t surprise anyone that this board’s leftists are having a ball with yet another sorry story of one their kind’s basely politicizing anything they touch, even and especially – which is plainly evident to any reasonable person – that which they should not.

    The turth hurts.

Naah. Even I, who think Bush was one of the worst presidents in American history (but not *the worst*) doesn’t deserve to be seen in the same list with Hitler, Bin Laden, and Manson. (Cheney’s another matter.)

I’d bet the kids put it in for a lark, but for the proofing process not to have caught it, it had to be pretty sloppy. I’d discipline the teacher/sponsor for that, not the content of the list. As an example, the sponsor would have been equally at fault had the offending content been a picture of a congressman’s dick.

umm… I am assuming you are being sarcastic- most middle school students could not even tell you exactly what Hitler did other than the US fought against him in WWII.

Let’s face it, parents are ultimately responsible for their children’s education any hate, tolerance or opinions these kids have came from home to the classroom. What’s amazing is that the Obama propaganda machine really worked 4 years ago.
It no doubt got past the teacher as she was trusting her middle school editor to complete the final look over- otherwise there is really no excuse for the oversight. She should be “very, very, very upset…”

Thanks for participating in my test. I asked above for competing explanations of Providence’s recognition of Bush’s speech, (and therefore his dead or alive order) and had no takers, though plenty of thumbs down, a few more than thumbs up.

Now my theory holds that it is demonic forces that portray an honest man giving a wonderful speech, commending the accomplisments of the crew of the Abraham Lincoln, as a devil himself. You can no longer help yourselves, and the result is that you have infected your own children, and if a teacher, the children ot others.

May God have mercy on your souls.

Revisionist history, re-distributive wealth, re-distributive justice plus, a healthy dose of contemporary propaganda. These are the tactics of American Social-Democratic change. Marx and Lenin would approve. (Engels too, I always forget to mention Felix)

Overly dramatic? I think not, after all, America’s youth are being deluged by a diet (no pun intended) of the politically correct to the point that Government has become surrogate ‘everything’ for them.

God and country, the Flag, George Washington, Davy Crockett, Abe Lincoln, Lewis and Clarke, Lindbergh and Earhart, Jesse Owens, I like Ike, even Audie Murphy, (who is Audie Murphy?)

These were American heros and somewhere along the line, they became passe’ to a generation of kids which just expanded into the next generation and so on.

Someone, I forget who, once said “Give me your youth…and we will control the world.”. So elegantly simple and so clever. The Spartans, Islam, and the Socialist/Communist states, all had/have a hold their youth by way of shaping and changing the lessons of history to create a new Nationalism.

Is this sort of thing happening here, in America? Hmm, every day there is a debate about the “Pledge of Allegiance’, the appropriateness of some textbooks and teachers such as Jay Bennish from Colorado. (Remember him?) “America is the single most violent nation on the planet earth”. (May 2006)

Conservatives do not teach this rubbish, however…

To refresh your memory, Al Gore sought to have votes recounted only in districts where Democrats controlled the election boards. His refusal to abide by an honest vote count, his attempt to skew the vote count process, delegitimized for a generation of rabidly partisan Democrats the faith in their country’s electoral process. His actions back in 2000 were a humongous disservice to rationality in political discourse. It’s no surprise he hasn’t had much positive impact since then.

Bush won Florida. Gore has never been found to have received more votes than Bush in any subsequent recounting of the ballots. Sentiments such as yours, ginned and propagated up by progressivism most deadest of enders, is directly harmful to the Republic. But most people have since become aware of this. The lie that Bush stole the election lives now only in the broken minds of the too-far-gone left – and those youths unfamiliar with events whose minds are poisoned by your lies.
