Rock Center with Brian Williams Will Debut Monday, October 31st

NBC News prime time news show Rock Center with Brian Williams — the first new prime time broadcast by NBC News in nearly two decades — now has a launch date: Monday, October 31st at 10 pm ET. In addition to host Brian Williams, the program will also feature Harry Smith, Kate Snow, Meredith Vieira, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, Richard Engel, Matt Lauer and Ann Curry.

Williams promises that the show will provide viewers with real news both on television and online:

“Rock Center” will cover a slightly different world than anything else on television. The format will be good, real, hard journalism – and then some. We intend to be the new home of quality journalism on a weekly basis, and on the web at all times.

Rock Center with Brian Williams will broadcast live from Rockefeller Center’s Studio 3B (hence the name) every week, and the televised show will be complimented by digital editions available online at both RockCenterNBC.com and via the show’s official iPad app.

does this mean NBC primetime is giving up?  Seems like it’d be much better to move the USA Network chief to take over NBC primetime.   Heck, move half the USA Network shows over while you’re at it…

With the exception of “30 Rock” and “The Office”, NBC prime time is truly awful, to be sure. But, those are the only network series I watch now.

I’ve watched the first two (2) episodes of Ken Burns’ “Prohibition”. Actually, very good. Given to a bit of snoozing or zoning during it, to be sure, but the parallels between the WCTU and the T-Partee are striking. Overwhelmingly white, rural/non-urban, fundamentalist side of Protestantism, self-righteous, not too well educated, strident, self-righteous and ultimately very destructive.

Wrong-  while the churches certainly supported Prohibition, the show specifically pointed out the Progressive nature of Prohibition, and its seeds are seen in what Bloomberg is trying to do in NYC today with what one can eat and drink and also in Michelle Obama’s attempt to define what foods people should eat.

L’Idiot! My review was completely accurate. You obviously went to some website and scooped up an out-of-context quote that you don’t even understand. Please, go, at long last, go. You add nothing, Nutsofast. Your salad days have wilted.

Ken Burns’ “Prohibition”….Well done and impressive.

It means NBC News is expanding!

Been there and done that, Pain in the ass, isn’t he?

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Which is fine if he simply once contributed anything. The inane retorts don’t count.

    LMAO-

You idiot, it’s from PBS’ website and from the program!
OMG- are you so, so dumb!

    Says the round mouth lib!

    LMAO

That quote came from the PBS website on the program “Prohibition.”

MG, you are dumber than whale crap!

    Rock Center….?
    Uh hoh please.
It will end up being an extension of Obama’s reelection team.

You’re talking nonsense.  Sure it may be a quote from Ken Burns’ site, but it’s hardly the full context of the program and in only a portion of the “thread of thought” that he was weaving.  But how typical, to take one or two sentences and try to equate the “great experiment” (that failed) and equate that with Michelle Obama’s efforts to end childhood obesity.  They are hardly the same.  Perhaps you would do well to watch the actual program before you make false equivalencies.

  • Mr Hyperbole

    Ridiculous name, useless show.

Hey donn, you are really an ignorant stooge aren’t ya. I watched the show and guess what- it was not written by Burns so you libs can stop giving him credit- he directed it- the writer is the one who should get credit.

As far as I’m concerned nbc is bought and paid for by soros and the west wing. I can’t tolerate williams he is the #1 phoney. I refuse to watch that network and I HOPE  there are a lot of us out there. They had immelt who we all know is bought and paid for. Then we have scott on cbs just as bad as couric. then theres always sawyer another one bought and paid for what these people have done is sold their souls and reputations for money. I guess soros pays well. Since they want to sell out AMERICA I can’t wait till the anvil comes down on them. bho will come after them at sometime and then they will realize they have absoutely nothing left. I for one can’t wait for the 1 to show the evil man he is.What oh what will the drones reporting the news do then? I will derive great satisfaction when the anvil finally does fall. HIP HIP HOORAY!!!

They canceled Playboy Club to make room for it.

Like yesterday’s reality show (a news magazine) is going to do better against Castle, Hawaii 5-O and Monday Night Football than Playboy Club did in that time slot.

    NOBODY CARES!!

Brian is just a pretty face, working for a corrupt network.

  • Jerry Baustian

Another NBC News program I will never watch. I gave up on NBC in the mid-1990s, when there was a pro-gun-control story on during every evening newscast, five nights a week. Nowadays it’s even worse, what with MSNBC.

Brian Williams has to be one of my favorite journalists. He has a sense of humor and delivers the news. Cant ask for more.
