Schoolmarm Chris Matthews Scolds Student David Weigel for “Chuckling”
On today’s Hardball, the discussion was on Newt Gingrich’s “Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior,” something Chris Matthews called “tribal politics.” When it came time for guest David Weigel to speak on the issue, he let out some knowing chuckles at Gingrich’s uber-planned strategy. Suddenly, Matthews transformed into an angry Catholic School teacher who just caught a student giggling during her descriptions of Hell.
The best part of the situation is that Weigel (already a bit babyfaced) matched him beat for beat by quickly squeezing his mouth shut like an embarrassed schoolboy. After his apology, the segment went on as if nothing happened however, we have to assume that Weigel’s knuckles got a harsh ruler beating during the commercial break.
