The suspect in the shooting deaths of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D.C. last week allegedly sent a series of disturbing messages in the days leading up to the attack, according to a new article.

Messages reportedly made in a group chat by Chicago man Elias Rodriguez, the suspect in the shooting, were published by journalist Ken Klippenstein on Tuesday, including fantasies about committing a genocide against white people and locking a schizophrenic man in a basement.

According to Klippenstein, who spoke to several friends and associates of the suspect, Rodriguez was “a prolific poster” in a group chat “right up to the day before the shooting,” showing a “bitter man who hated all sorts” of things.

“The genocide makes me go a bit nuts every few days and break down crying,” said Rodriguez in one message.

In others, he opened up about a relationship he had as a minor with an older woman and defended Joseph Stalin, praising the Soviet dictator for “ending the most antisemitic regime ever yet known 2 man.”

Klippenstein reported that “when it came to race, Rodriquez’s hatred seemed reserved for white people,” with Rodriguez even going so far as to fantasize about genocide against white Americans.

“Lol you probably would have to actually genocide white people to make this a normal country,” he wrote. “Like even a very targeted and selective rehabilitation program would probably have to lead to the lifetime imprisonments of tens of millions of white people.”

In some of the most disturbing messages, Rodriguez also reportedly urged another member of the chat to lock their schizophrenic brother in a basement and “dispose” of him.

“Why not just have him committed? You can’t possibly be gaining anything from a relationship with a person like that,” he said in one message, while in another, Rodriguez advised, “Just put him in a padded room and forget about him. If there was a person you loved, he’s gone now. Let it go.”

He went on to suggest, “Can you just chain him in the basement and slide meals under the door?” before eventually snapping, “I’m just tired of hearing about this guy … He’s useless, we get it. Stop complaining and just dispose of him.”

Rodriguez was arrested after he opened fire on a group of people outside the Capital Jewish Museum last week, killing two Israeli embassy staff members, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim.

According to D.C. Chief of Police Pamela A. Smith, “the suspect chanted, ‘Free, free Palestine’ while in custody” and “implied that he committed the offense.”
