Watch Bernie Sanders Hilariously Shoo Off His Wife After She Admonished Him to ‘Stand Up Straight’ Just Before DNC Speech

Even veteran politicians of two presidential campaigns still get a little advice before appearing on air—even if they don’t necessarily want it.
That was the case on the first night of the Democratic National Convention, when a slightly early peek at the video feed of Sen. Bernie Sanders preparing for his speech captured his wife, Jane, fussing over his hand placement and admonishing to “stand up straight.”
Sanders’ response alternated from slightly put-upon spouse to lovingly patient husband and then back to a bit of the trademark curmudgeon, as Jane advised him to keep his hands off the lectern, then stepped into the shot just a minute before air for a quick embrace and, finally, a well-intended reminder to fix his posture from off-screen. That last rejoinder prompted him to raise his hands in his defense and offer a quietly exasperated plea of “Stop it! Enough, enough!”
I still don’t know why they insisted on so many speeches being live — especially when Michelle Obama’s keynote and several other appearances were pre-taped — but it gave us this wonderful bit of Bernie Sanders that came through via satellite. pic.twitter.com/RrJ8yzmbPg

It was a touching little behind-the-scenes look at a marriage between two people who remain refreshingly honest with one another, even as they occasionally get on each other’s nerves.
