Fox News Anchor Warns Trump Is ‘Back to Square One’ With Iran

Fox News anchor John Roberts lamented on Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s negotiations with Iran appeared to be “back to square one.”

Roberts was speaking about the latest developments in the Middle East with recently retired U.S. Air Force Brigadier General John Teichert and noted, “So we were told weeks ago that there was a deal to open the Strait of Hormuz — that Iran had agreed to give up its nuclear program and allow the United States to get the nuclear dossier — and now we’re back to square one again.”

“We are. And, John, my biggest concern is: way back at the beginning of April, there was one and only one precondition to the original ceasefire, and that was that Iran would open up the Strait of Hormuz, no strings attached. They never did,” Teichert said, adding:

They didn’t follow through on the MOU. And right now, even if they made a deal, I would see it as hollow — as hollow as I fear our threats are seen in the eyes of the regime.

“Right. Well, they just keep playing the same tune over and over again, you know. We’ll see how it goes this time around. General, it’s always great to catch up with you,” Roberts concluded.

Trump backed down from his much-hyped massive attack on Iran over the weekend, and on Monday said he was giving Iranian leaders one “last chance” to strike a deal.
