Fox’s Joey Jones Argues Dwindling Munitions Isn’t a ‘Trump Created Problem’

Fox News’s Joey Jones argued on Saturday’s Big Weekend Show that the munitions depletions the U.S. is experiencing is not President Donald Trump’s fault.

“We were making about 84 of those a year since they came on line, Jones said of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-ballistic systems. “We’ve made 1,000 ever. We had a plan in place under the Golden Dome policy to make 400 a year. So, the company that makes those said, ‘The earliest we can speed that up would be 2028.’ You can’t make new machines needed to make these missiles. So, like the idea, well we’re making new factories. Well, yeah, you might take a year to make the factory, and then the year after that we’re pumping more out. So, you can speed this up by 100% and you’re still more than a year out. It’s still a problem.”

Jones continued:

There are gaps. The same capabilities that exist on ships, we might be able to speed those up, and there’s things there, but you can’t sugarcoat over the problem, which is, we’ve spent the last 20 years not making enough of these. This isn’t President Trump-created problem, and it’s a solution that he tried to start when he brought up the Golden Dome, when people made fun of him for it and said it was just, you know, him being him. It’s like no, it’s a real gap in the military that needs to be looked at, not to mention, if we had a bunch of extra THAAD around right now, every single Middle Eastern country that’s asking for them would be doing what we want them to, rather than coming to our president saying, we’d rather you hold off. So, there’s a strategic advantage and it’s a relatively cheap one compared to nuclear war.

Leon Panetta who served as CIA director and Defense secretary under Barack Obama, did put the blame on the Trump administration and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth this week, telling CNN, “I don’t care what excuses you want to use, it should not have happened. And I know that the secretary blamed the deputy secretary, blamed others, but frankly, the buck stops with him.”
