A MAGA-themed game in which users built a wall on the “Southern Border” with Tetris blocks has been removed just a week after the White House posted it.
“Build the Wall” was one of several arcade-type games based on popular offerings like Tetris, Snake and Flappy Bird that the White House included Thursday on a new website.
But the border wall game was quickly scraped after Tetris made a pointed X post about copyright infringement.
“At Tetris we believe in the power of connection and bringing people together, not dividing them,” the company posted Sept. 4 on X. “To our fans everywhere: we love you, we see you and we’re grateful to have you in our community.”
The post included the caption: “P.S. The Tetris Company was not involved in the creation of ‘Build the Wall’. P.P.S. We take copyright infringement very seriously.”
The White House appeared to remove the “Build the Wall” game by Tuesday, NBC News reported.
Neither Tetris nor the White House immediately responded to NBC’s request for comment.
The other games included “Flappy Bill,” which features a bald eagle players can steer through obstacles around the National Mall; an ode to controversial Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy with “Make America Healthy Again,” in which players became a boxer who punches away unhealthy food; and another called “Rio Run” which features Border Czar Tom Homan at the center of a Snake-style grid, where the border czar leads an increasingly long trail of what seem to be undocumented immigrants dressed in orange jumpsuits.
Yet another game in the style of “Duck Hunt” lets players use a net to swoop up gold bars and cash near the Washington Monument. The game is a nod to Trump Accounts, a program allowing kids to get a $1,000 federal contribution.
