House Republican Roasts His Own Leadership For How Few Days They Are Working Before the Midterms

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) roasted his own party leadership over their lack of work days leading up to the midterm elections.

“Waiting for y’all to discover Republican leaders in DC have also scheduled an October recess,” Massie wrote on X on Friday.

He included a schedule of the full year with the days congressional members are working highlighted.

“There are only 8 full work days and 8 half-days before the midterm elections. It looks like we’re intent on squandering a majority, until you understand Uniparty IS always the majority,” Massie wrote.

The libertarian-leaning House member was responding to Turning Point USA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet noting that Republicans control the White House, House, and Senate.

“Do you realize how rare it is to have a Republican trifecta control of the House, Senate, and White House? It’s only happened 5 times in the last century,” Kolvet wrote.

He called for Republicans to take advantage of the limited window they have before the midterms and he called for Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) to be replaced.

“These windows are precious and too easily squandered (just look at how the neocons destroyed the Bush years). We must make this one count. Replace Thune, cancel August recess, and pass the SAVE America Act,” Kolvet wrote.

Massie doesn’t have a ton of worries when it comes to his own party, as his term is set to end in January after he was defeated by Ed Gallrein in his reelection. Gallrein had the backing of President Donald Trump, who has become a vocal critic of Massie over the Epstein files and more.

“Bad Congressman Tom Massie voted against Tax Cuts, the Border Wall, our Military and Law Enforcement,” Trump wrote on Truth Social in May during his effort to remove Massie. “Actually, he voted against almost everything that is good. The Worst Republican Congressman in History. Kentucky, vote the bum out on Tuesday. We can’t live with this troublemaker for another two years. He is a true negative force!!!”
