‘I Stand Corrected’: Elon Musk Pulls a Fast 180 On GOP Senator He Trashed as a ‘Deep State Puppet’ Hours Earlier — After Talking to Him Personally

Elon Musk pulled an abrupt about-face on a Republican Senator he had called a “deep state puppet” just hours earlier — after a personal conversation with the senator in question.
In a post to X on Sunday afternoon, the DOGE chief walked back his attack on Sen. Todd Young (R-IN) — who Musk had blasted over his reported misgivings about Tulsi Gabbard becoming Director of National Intelligence. Musk revealed he had a personal conversation with Young — during which the two evidently buried the hatchet.
“I stand corrected,” Musk wrote in his X post. “Senator Young will be a great ally in restoring power to the people from the vast, unelected bureaucracy.”
Hours earlier, Musk — in posts which have since been deleted — called Young a “deep state puppet,” and added it was “very weird” that he voted for roughly two-thirds of former President Joe Biden’s nominees.
During Gabbard’s confirmation hearing Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Young expressed concern that Gabbard refused to label Edward Snowden a traitor. Young can singlehandedly end Gabbard’s bid to become the next DNI if he were to vote no on her nomination in the Senate Intelligence Committee. It would take four no votes in the full Senate to vote Gabbard down.
Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), another thought to be on the fence, can also end Gabbard’s bid with a no vote in the committee — assuming all Democratic Senators vote no, as expected.
