James Carville Calls On David Hogg to Take Over ‘Dysfunctional’ DNC
Democratic strategist and “Rajun Cajun” James Carville suggested gun control activist David Hogg take over the Democratic National Committee (DNC) after reports of the organization’s dysfunction under current leadership.
A more subdued Carville, who said he’s recovering from surgery, commented Sunday on The New York Times report that current DNC Chairman Ken Martin appears to be cracking under the organization’s major financial pressures.
“I did want to, like, Sunday afternoon, or whenever, weigh in on two stories I saw. And one…was a story on the DNC that basically said it’s dysfunctional. It’s just difficult to do anything with it. And it’s all true,” Carville said.
He continued:
And at the end of the day, who cares? I mean, maybe they want to try to get themselves together, some of them are lovely people…there’s Ken Martin. Maybe they ought to figure out, maybe they could be somewhat relevant. I have no idea. If David Hogg wants to take it over, then, I ain’t stoping you — go ahead, man, I don’t really care. And I don’t think at the end of the day, well, it might be fine people —I know some of them are not particularly determined.
And there was another story about how all these Republicans are doing all this research, and they’re discovered that, well, people can’t stand their ass. And, then, I think this was in the Post, and they would send out people canvases and whatever kind of sh*t. And they were talking to people and they were coming back, and it was saying, like, the people, one in five, or the people of MAGA, have turned on us. And it was a, I think a pretty good story, best I could tell. It was well reported. That’s a consequential story! No one — the DNC, like it, loathe it, don’t care about it — take your own pick. It doesn’t matter! The fact that they’re now discovering that their own people are turning on — not just the people, like, “Oh sh*t, we were gone a long time ago” — And so, as we go forward in this political year and we get to the end of it, we got to be careful to discern what’s vapor and what’s real. That, my friends, is one significant story.
“So as you’re accumulating your news over the weekend, have a little fun, read the DNC story about he threw, I don’t know, a salt shaker — I don’t know — threw something at a desk. Oh, God forbid that would ever happen!” Carville exclaimed.
He added, “And then read the story about the troubles that they’re having, and let’s do everything we can to give them even more trouble between now and election day.”
