Jake Sherman Predicts Trump-Backed Big Beautiful Bill ‘Is Going to Pass the Senate’
Punchbowl News founder Jake Sherman predicted that the GOP’s “Big Beautiful Bill” will pass in the Senate Monday night, following the conclusion of the day’s so-called “vote-a-rama.”
A marathon round of voting began in the Senate Monday morning, marking another step towards passing President Donald Trump’s signature legislation. Despite the rocky path the bill has charted thus far, Sherman told colleague Ana Palmer on The Daily Punch podcast, “Here’s my assumption Anna: this is going to pass the Senate.”
Noting the two GOP senators who are slated to vote against the bill, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC), Sherman speculated whether Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) would serve as another possible no vote. Even with Collins against, the bill would still have a clear course back to the House.
“Three will take them to a phone call to JD Vance,” Sherman reminded listeners, referring to the maximum of three GOP senators who can vote against the bill if it’s to pass. In the case of three no votes, the vice president would be called upon to break the tie.
Sherman projected the Senate voting spree would take about eight to ten hours, resulting in a “prime time vote.”
A successful passing of the Senate version of the bill will kick it back to the House, who will work to approve the Senate’s changes before the July 4 deadline later in the week.
