Chinese Hackers Tapped Trump Attorney’s Cell Phone Ahead of the Election

Chinese hackers reportedly gained access to the cellphone used by President-elect Donald Trump’s lead criminal defense attorney Todd Blanche.

Sources with ABC News and CNN report that after breaking into Blanche’s phone months ago, hackers with China’s intelligence services gained access to the attorney’s text messages and audio recordings of his phone calls.

Blanche was responsible for helping Trump fight the numerous criminal indictments that he faced, including the hush money charges from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and the federal cases brought by special counsel Jack Smith.

Sources tell the outlets that the FBI discovered Blanche’s communications with his friends and family were compromised. As the investigation continues, the agency is seeking to determine if more contacts were impacted by the hack.

Two weeks ago, the FBI announced it was investigating “actors affiliated with” China’s government for targeting commercial telecommunications infrastructure after identifying “malicious activity,” according to ABC News.

The alleged hacking included the communications of private companies and individuals. During the campaign, Vice President-elect JD Vance was informed that his cellphone was targeted by hackers.

Blanche is reportedly under consideration to be Trump’s next White House counsel or another senior role in the Justice Department.
