Video released by the Louisville Metro Police Department shows the events that led to Scottie Scheffler, the number one ranked golfer in the world, being arrested while en route to compete in the PGA Championship last week.

Scheffler was arrested arrested last Friday after he attempted to drive around an accident scene to the course at Valhalla Golf Club, where the tournament was being held.

Scheffler has described the incident as a “big misunderstanding.” A police report on the incident stated that a “Detective Gillis” was dragged to the ground and suffered subsequent pain, swelling, and abrasions to his left wrist and knee. It also stated that his uniform pants, “valued at approximately $80” were damaged beyond repair.

Scheffler was charged with assault of a police officer in the second degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from officers directing traffic.
