Michigan Democrat Seethes Over Trump’s Push to Rename Lake Ontario — Fires Back with a Scorching Natalie Harp Dig

Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell (D) hit President Donald Trump with a scathing dig on Tuesday after the commander in chief pitched a new name for Lake Ontario amid his trade feud with Canada.

“Let’s just call it Lake Natalie so we know you’ll start protecting our Great Lakes,” Dingell said in an X post hours after Trump said on Truth Social that he was “giving serious consideration” to changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America because “we don’t expect to [be] doing much business with Ontario any longer.”

“Natalie,” of course, refers to Trump aide Natalie Harp, whose relationship with the president has come under increased scrutiny after Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) invoked her name in an address to supporters at a rally earlier this month.

“See, he doesn’t want to do the job,” Ossoff said at the time. “He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie to their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar.”

Trump’s proposed Lake Ontario name change comes amid an intensifying trade war between the U.S. and Canada that has devolved into a snippy name-calling battle between Trump and Ontario Premier Doug Ford.

On Monday, Ford  told CTV that Trump “can kiss my a**,” and threatened to cut power to U.S. manufacturing plants.

In response, Trump posted the following to Truth Social. “Lots of ‘bluster’ from Doug Ford, who is the Premier of the Canadian Province of Ontario, but who is better known as the less charismatic, intelligent, and overall unimpressive brother of the late, great, Rob Ford. America has been carrying Canada for decades, but no longer!”

After trade talks between the U.S. and its northern neighbor broke down on Friday, Carney called the economic stalemate an “attack” on his nation.

“You’re at war when you get attacked. We got attacked,” he said over the weekend.
