‘Totally DISCREDITED!’ Trump Orders Probe of National Academy of Sciences Over ‘Bogus’ Climate Guidance

President Donald Trump ordered federal officials to review the conduct of the National Academy of Sciences, accusing the organization of providing “fraudulent, biased, and misleading” climate guidance that he claimed influenced major court decisions and cost the U.S. billions.

In a Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump said the academy’s scientific manuals, produced for the federal judiciary, had been used by judges presiding over significant climate-related litigation despite being “totally DISCREDITED.”

He directed federal suspension and debarment officials to examine the organization’s conduct, while arguing taxpayers should no longer fund what he described as “Climate Fraud.”

“The National Academy of Sciences has historically published analytical Scientific Manuals expressly for our Federal Judiciary,” Trump wrote.

He went on to allege that the institution had been politically driven, writing: “Of course, the Academy has been run by Radical Left Dumocrats who, it turns out, published fraudulent, biased, and misleading Manuals on Climate Change.”

Trump further claimed the materials had shaped major legal rulings across the country.

“These bogus Manuals were used by Judges to decide massive ‘Climate Change’ Cases, and have created huge losses across our Country,” he wrote.

“Our Nation’s Federal Judges deserve Facts and Science, not Political Fraud and False Science on Climate. With this truth, I hereby order Federal Suspension and Debarment Officials to review this conduct.”

The directive follows a dispute earlier this year over the Federal Judicial Center’s Reference Manual on Scientific Evidence, a publication developed jointly with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to help federal judges assess scientific evidence presented in court.

The manual’s fourth edition, released in December, included a new chapter on climate science designed to assist judges evaluating expert testimony and documentary evidence in climate-related cases.

That chapter was later withdrawn after a group of Republican attorneys general argued it was biased against fossil fuel companies.

Trump’s announcement came after he criticized Canada’s government, blaming its wildfire management for smoke pollution drifting into the United States. The country is grappling with around 850 wildfires, according to Fox News.

Speaking after attending the FIFA World Cup final on Sunday, Trump said he had pressed Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney over the issue: “You’ve got to stop these fires from coming in and poisoning our air.”

He suggested that Canada should pay “damages” to the United States.
