Trump Given Personalized World Series Ring by Dodgers: ‘Do I Have To Report This?’

President Donald Trump questioned, “Do I have to report this?” after the Los Angeles Dodgers presented him with a personalized World Series ring during the team’s White House visit Thursday.

Baseball’s 2025 World Series champions appeared at the White House for the second year in a row, also winning the championship in 2024. While it’s traditional for the sitting president to be presented with a custom jersey, a World Series ring marked a break in tradition.

Dodgers principal owner Mark Walter, also the CEO of Guggenheim Partners, gave the president his ring, remarking, “We’d like to present this to you as an honorary —”

“Oh, wow,” Trump gushed. “Oh, you have to be kidding, huh? Wow. Do I have to report this? I don’t wanna report this! That’s beautiful. Thank you very much.”

“It’s got your name on it, so it’s fully worth it to you,” said Walter.

“That’s right,” agreed Trump. “That’s really beautiful.” He went on to hold the ring up to the cheering crowd.

Also in his speech to the Dodgers, Trump touted his rudimentary baseball knowledge, despite having “been a little busy with Iran and some other things.”

“If I know too much, you wouldn’t be happy,” the president said. “I wouldn’t be doing a good job if I know too much.”

Trump also made sure to give a shout-out to his renovated Rose Garden, directing attention to a new sign “right up there” in black calligraphy. “Do you think [former President Joe] Biden would do that? I don’t think so,” he declared.

Also on the subject of his renovation, Trump mentioned that the previous version of the garden always had wet grass, leading to “a lot of very upset women who would stand there in high heels, and they’d go down like quicksand.”
