Trump Reportedly Gave Israel ‘Green Light’ to Strike Hamas Leaders in Qatar

President Donald Trump reportedly gave Israeli leadership the “green light” to strike Hamas’ headquarters in Doha, Qatar, as part of a targeted attack against leaders of the terrorist organization on Tuesday.

The president’s approval was reported by Channel 12, Israel’s biggest TV station, which cited a senior Israeli official as its source, and The Times of Israel  picked up the report.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, took full credit for the attack in an X post on Tuesday.

“Today’s action against the top terrorist chieftains of Hamas was a wholly independent Israeli operation,” he said. “Israel initiated it, Israel conducted it, and Israel takes full responsibility.”

Israel aimed to strike and kill Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas’ acting political leader, a day after he had met the Qatari prime minister in Doha. Other top Hamas leaders targeted in the attack were: Khaled Mashal, Zaher Jabarin, who is in charge of Hamas in the West Bank, and Muhammad Darwish, the head of Hamas’s Shura Council.  All were present at Hamas HQ when the strike took place on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement that it had targeted Hamas’ “senior leadership” with a “precise strike.”

“For years, these members of the Hamas leadership have led the terrorist organization’s operations, are directly responsible for the brutal October 7th massacre, and have been orchestrating and managing the war against the State of Israel,” read the statement.

The Qatari Government, in response, said it condemned the “cowardly” attack.

Israeli’s strike against Hamas leadership comes nearly two years after Hamas terrorists from Palestine led the October 7, 2023 attack against Israel during which 1,200 people were killed, and another 251 people were taken hostage.
