Trump Reveals He Had a ‘Perfect’ MRI at Walter Reed — But Won’t Say Why
President Donald Trump revealed Monday that he had magnetic resonance imaging — better known as an MRI — during his second trip to Walter Reed Medical Center this year.
A reporter onboard Air Force One on the way to Japan asked Trump about the reason for his medical visit earlier this month, saying, “Walter Reed mentioned ‘advanced medical imaging.’ Did you get an MRI?”
“I did, I got an MRI — it was perfect,” the president said. “I mean I gave you — I gave you the full results. We had an MRI and the machine, you know, the whole thing, and it was perfect.”
The reporter then asked if the doctors said what they were looking for.
“You could ask the doctors,” Trump said. “In fact we have doctors traveling with us. But, I think I give you a very conclusive — nobody has ever given you reports like I give you. And if I didn’t think it was going to be good, either I would let you know negatively — I wouldn’t run — I’d do something. But the doctor said some of the best reports —for the age — some of the best report they’ve ever seen.”
In the report released Oct. 10, Trump’s physician Sean Barbabella gushed about the 79-year-old president’s health, writing that his “cardiac age” was “approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age.”
The report concluded, “President Donald J. Trump remains in exceptional health, exhibiting strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, and physical performance.”
The White House announced this summer that Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency after he was spotted with swelling in his ankles and bruising on his hand that had been covered with makeup.
In a July memo, Barbabella addressed the bruising on Trump’s hand, stating it was “consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin.”
