US Bombs Near Kharg Island In Major Escalation, WSJ Reveals Iran Attacked US Navy Ship
Fox News’ chief national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin confirmed on Tuesday that the U.S. military conducted airstrikes around Iran’s key energy hub, Kharg Island.
Griffin’s report comes amid the stunning revelation from The Wall Street Journal that “Iran launched a missile attack against a U.S. Navy ship on Monday after firing ballistic missiles at an aircraft carrier and a guided-missile destroyer over the weekend.”
While both attacks on U.S. vessels failed, the WSJ noted that the “attempts to hit American naval assets are raising alarm that the regime is using more sophisticated weapons and could be getting assistance from China or Russia, according to the officials.”
“Senior US officials to Fox: US military has struck targets near Kharg Island and Jask,” Griffin wrote on X, adding:
The targets include Iranian oil tankers.
This is part of a larger effort to squeeze Iran economically. The strategy includes sinking and disabling Iranian crude oil tankers.
Fox’s Edward Lawrence joined Larry Kudlow on Fox Business to dig into all the latest details and the impact of the strikes in the ongoing U.S.-Iran war.
“Griffin confirms that the U.S. is right now striking oil tankers around Kharg Island, and that’s part of the economic pressure campaign, she’s told me, because the oil needs to be sold so Iran can get money from this,” Lawrence reported, adding:
Now, the U.S. also sanctioned all remaining Iranian airlines and their support companies. Now, what that latest action does on the sanctions side is make sure that no allied companies or countries can help any of these Iranian airlines — even with passenger transfers, they can’t do anything with cargo services or even general sales support for tickets. Now, any support would potentially cut off the company or country from the U.S. financial system.
Companies sanctioned today operate in UAE, Turkey, Malaysia, and Kazakhstan, so when I asked Treasury officials about possible Chinese help, those officials told me that any country — any country — found helping Iran’s airline industry will see swift sanctions. Military experts believe that at some point the Iranian people will get fed up with their leadership.
