A piece of stage at President Donald Trump’s state fair fell down during a Thursday afternoon performance and nearly hit the dancers below.
The Great American State Fair had a difficult day on Thursday. Attendees braving the intense heat found little relief thanks to the many of the booths not having air conditioning, and the fair continued to struggle with small crowds at the National Mall.
That afternoon, social media influencer Aaron Parnas posted a video of a performance at the fair. According to Parnas’s tweet, the performance was a rehearsal for Trump’s big Fourth of July celebration on Saturday.
In the video, three singers could be seen performing in the middle of the stage. The trio was flanked by dancers on both sides. Just seconds into the video, a piece of the set fell onto the stage. The dancers closest to the piece flinched in response to the loud thud when it came crashing down, and they quickly turned around and stopped. Moments later, everyone else on stage turned around to see what the commotion was. The music stopped, as well.
It wasn’t immediately known if anyone was struck by the debris. Considering the sound it made when it hit the ground, the piece appeared to be very heavy and could have seriously injured someone.
